Wanna be a lone wolf? Wanna martyr yourself in the name of progress? Wanna have a little bit of a superiority complex? This deck is for you!
This deck uses all the current 'ronin' style defence cards to take hits, ready up, and dish damage back. The core of the deck is simple; we buff our DEF, get up, 'retaliate' 3, then we make the villain hit us, dealing back 3 damage (and some bonus effect), then ready up and make them hit us again; we can, do this, all day! Special callout here to Stand Alone since a lot of ronin decks use it as protection against Assault or minions, not actually getting proactive value out of it, but with taunt effects we can use it to ready during our turn for value.
Some cards I considered here were various "on block" effects, like Cuts Both Ways & Not Today! but since magneto has 2ATK/2SCH minimum (often 3) we should just run more ready effects such as another Ever Vigilant, Desperate Defense, or Indomitable if we really cared, but I think we have enough damage & threat control that we don't need it.
The value pieces of Hard to Ignore & Unflappable keep the engine rolling, and Ready for a Fight helps us with obligations and other reasons we might want to flip down, but we don't really need to flip down, and we should try and avoid it.
The biggest weakness of the deck is a little obvious just looking at it, but we rely on a ton of upgrades, and our ID doesn't even let us dig for most of them, compounding that a lot of pieces don't even work unless it's all set up (Bubble doesn't last, Hard & unflappable don't trigger, you have a small health pool). Taunting early and often helps, but sometimes you just need a little luck.
Finally an honourable mention to Dauntless but we generally take a bit of damage at the start, and after we get set-up we don't want to flip down and don't have many ways to heal back up so most of the time it would be offline.
