Ready for a Fight

A very important card for true solo Protection players; not quite as big a deal as as Under Surveillance in Justice, but close. Previously, the only non-character-specific ways to stay safe from the "what if Rhino draws an Advance?" problem when flipping down in Protection were a single confusion from Professor X and having the Black Widow ally in play. Ready for a Fight gives you three more safe flipdowns per deck cycle, which is enough to satisfy heroes who like to go alter ego frequently but not necessarily flip every single turn (e.g. Groot, She-Hulk).

The biggest beneficiary is of course Black Widow (hero this time), as she can loop these every turn with Safe House #29 - and greatly prefers being in hero form when encounter cards are drawn so she can trigger her other preparations. Once the loop is in play and you're flipping every turn, the experience is a bit like playing the Psylocke->Danger Room-> Professor X combo, except you're using other Protection cards to negate or blunt the villain's attack instead of confusing them. That may not sound amazing but hey, it can't be negated by Stalwart!

Now we just need a 3-of 'fixed' variant of Not my Responsibility in Aggression (maybe drop the ally clause?) and a non-trait-locked version of Tempus in Leadership...

Black Widow protection has transcended with this card. between getting ready for a fight back with safe house every turn you can use practiced plan to get back your other preperations. — w1ldabeast · 55
This is definitely the best new solo card since Under Surveillance. I would argue it might even be better than that one (it is for the better aspect after all) — jamman39 · 14
But I disagree that Black Widow gets the most out of it. Shuri can flip down, get free heals from Queen Ramonda, free cards from Elephant's Trunk, and a free tech upgrade from her AE ability. Iron Man can buy himself desperately needed set up time. She-Hulk can take advantage of her AE ability, +2 hand AE hand size, 5 recovery, and her form change ability. Ms Marvel's whole gameplan is based off flipping to AE, which more or less meant she could not play protection in solo. Gambit suddenly becomes one of the best Protection thwarters. Groot might finally be playable (testing needed). In any case 3 copies of this card are likely to find their way into every future Protection deck I make, regardless of which character I'm using — jamman39 · 14
Any hero can consistently use this card when you combine it with #practiced plan. Just pick someone with good alter-ego abilities/supports and go ham. But my biggest question lately has been: does Confuse keep this from triggering? Does the Villain's activation discard confused or Ready for a Fight? — Footballcoach · 364
