I CAN TAKE IT

I've played some pretty strong Protection decks, but this Ms. Marvel deck is pretty strong, good solo but great in multiplayer, and absolutely fun to play. Prepare to take no DMG and make every enemy regret attacking you.

Overview: Before I go into how this deck works, it is incredibly important that the person playing this deck understand the timing windows in the game and how Ms. Marvel interacts with that. If you don't, this deck will not work very well.

The main thing is getting set up as quickly as possible. There are a lot of setup pieces but Ms. Marvel is so easy to set up with all her low-cost cards/resource-generating capability shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I will warn you in solo, it is more of a challenge so you have to be more patient. Don't be afraid of her large deck size. After you are fully set up (can have up to 24 cards in play with only a few that are temporary) plus the fact she can burn through her deck fast makes it not a problem. Once you have key pieces together, you can use her Hero ability to manipulate defense to take no dmg and give back double. The combination of

can cause serious dmg in every enemy attack and so so much more. For example, you get attacked with 4 ATK from a villain. You use Defiance to get rid of the boast (side note, because you played this card, you are defending now and don't have to exhaust Ms. Marvel. This goes for the other defense cards), then Wiggle Room, Side Step, or Jump Flip to minus the dmg, next exhaust Ms. Marvel to bring a card back and either play it again or use another to prevent the remaining dmg. If you are at full health, you potentially did 4 DMG with Dauntless, Electrostatic Armor, and Flow Like Water. Then depending on which defense card you used, you could have done more dmg, drawn cards, or removed threat from the main. Finally, since you took no dmg, you draw a card with Unflappable and remove threat from the main with Hard to Ignore. If you have Indomitable, you can ready and keep putting the defense card back into your hand since Ms. Marvel's ability doesn't have a limit. Pretty nasty combo.

This deck was really fun. I played Kang with it and wanted his +2 ATK option so that I could use more DEF cards to deal DMG. You know you have something special when a basic DEF of 1 Hero doesn't take a single DMG at any point vs. Kang.

Card Review

  • Pinpoint can be helpful to bounce back support or upgrades that get removed through encounter cards. Temporary cards like allies or Indomitable are probably the main use for her. She can be switched out depending on preference. Jocasta and Nova are good choices. The lower cost options could be Starhawk, Clea, Cosmo, and Ironheart. but they have less of a game impact.
  • Red Dagger is a solid ally that can be versatile in ATK, THW, and DEF.
  • Victor Mancha is a great ally that can help with DEF if needed, but great for soaking up indirect. High Health makes him last longer.
  • Bait and Switch is great to activate your DEF network during your turn. If cards line up, you can do decent DMG along with thwart for a low cost.
  • Big Hands is a solid ATK card. I recommend putting it under Bruno Carrelli when able. More on this later.
  • Defiance is a card that I wasn't big into when I first saw it, but it is one of the best defensive cards out there. With this deck, this zero-cost card can bring about thwart removal, card draw, DMG, and much more.
  • Hit and Run can be removed if wanted. It's there to help with solo/2 Hero games. Being able to boost this card with Embiggen! and Shrink for 4 DMG and 4 thwart for 3 cost is pretty reasonable.
  • Jump Flip is a key card that helps with thwart, but more importantly, is a defense card that prevents DMG (you don't have to exhaust).
  • Side Step is another way to prevent DMG, not exhaust Ms. Marvel to defend, and to generate DMG. Play this (with a and fully set up) when a minion attacks would prevent a 3 ATK (generally highest for a minion) and generate at least 4 DMG.
  • Sneak By is a solid threat removal. Links with Bruno Carrelli well.
  • Wiggle Room is the best defensive card for Ms. Marvel. In a good turn with just this card and no other defensive card and manipulating her ability, you can draw 2+ cards, 3+ DMG, 2 thwart, 3+ DMG prevention, and a Partridge in a pear tree. Pretty nasty.
  • Aamir Khan is a strong support.
  • Bruno Carrelli can be a very helpful support in this setup. I'm always hot or cold with him, but he can be a lifesaver if planned right. His ability takes setup, but attaching the right cards is key. Never attach defensive cards to him. The timing never works out great for defense cards so focus on attack and thwart. Attaching Bait and Switch, Big Hands, Hit and Run, and Sneak By are perfect. I've never done more than 3 cards, but you can technically attach more than 3 to Bruno and really thin out your deck and only grab what you need. (Idea for another deck maybe).
  • Champions Mobile Bunker is one of the cards that really help mitigate one of the big flaws of defensive-focused decks... busted hands. When you have a hand full of defense cards and can't do anything with them, Bunker has you covered.
  • Helicarrier is always a good addition for the resource help.
  • Nakia Bahadir is great and worth it.
  • The Night Nurse is a great support to help heal and avoid status cards.
  • Anticipation was a new card I added to see how it works and it's not bad in this deck. Just another way to ready Ms. Marvel
  • Biokinetic Polymer Suit is great
  • Dauntless works well with this setup. All the DMG prevention is great for keeping full health and if you do take DMG, Kamala Khan's REC is 5 so yeah.
  • Electrostatic Armor with all the defending you are doing, this just adds that 1 DMG piece by piece.
  • Embiggen! is great
  • Endurance really helps add that cusion for Dauntless to be more effective.
  • Flow Like Water is a key part of this build. Get it out quickly so that you can start dishing out DMG.
  • Hard to Ignore is a great way to help with thwart so you can flip to alter-ego to help set up, heal, or prepare for big turns.
  • Indomitable is a card that I've always liked, but never really played. This build loves it and with response windows as they are, this card can be a great way to help manipulate Ms. Marvel ability.
  • Nerves of Steel helps with your defense resource to get more out of your cards.
  • Plan B is here to help alleviate bad hands that are full of defense cards that you can't do anything with.
  • Shrink great card.
  • Unflappable should be part of most protection builds and also shines in this one. If planned right, when the villain attacks, you can draw more than Spider-Man and Venom combined with their abilities (Spider-Sense). For example, if you play your cards right... 5 card hand (one being Wiggle Room) -> take ATK -> Wiggle Room and exhaust to bring it back, play it again if able (and exhaust if able to bring it back), then Unflappable. you went from 5 cards to potentially 8 cards and took no DMG and most likely dished out DMG/THW.
