Here we use Spider-Woman to make a Legacy-legal Vin deck, representing the protagonist from Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series.

Making an Entrance...

To create Vin in Marvel Champions, we have a few design objectives. The first is that a Mistborn has a variety of powers, and the build should simulate at least the most important of these. The second is to create a sense of mobility: Vin uses her ironpulling and steelpushing to parkour the heck around Luthadel. She's also a quick fighter with glass knives, and improvisational projectiles with her ironpulling and steelpushing. Third, we should have serious street skills. Vin's got a criminal background and knows how to get information. Vin's also kind of a lone wolf, so the build shouldn't include allies without good reason.

Pewter: Vin is super tough. Contaminant Immunity is perfect for this, but we include further durability redundancies in Endurance, Down Time, Crew Quarters, and events that can trigger extra healing. These help offset the traditional weaknesses of a lone-wolf build, particularly one outside of the Protection aspect. Pewter can also enhance strength, which the attack increase from Superhuman Agility can help simulate.

Tin/Atium: The alter-ego ability to scry the top card of a deck could represent enhanced senses like tin. Skilled Investigator can also have to do with her enhanced vision and hearing. Spycraft is your atium. It's expensive, and you won't always need it, but it's your ace in the hole.

Zinc/Brass: Pheromones to riot and sooth.

Ironpulling and Steelpushing (mobility and combat): Self-Propelled Glide, Justice Served, Multitasking, and One by One create a sense of movement. Plan B represents an improvisational ranged attack. There's metal just about everywhere, and Vin's as vicious a scrapper as any. Those Skilled Strikes with the knives really hurt. The low cost curve further simulates agility, building up to critical moves a la Superhuman Agility and Fluid Motion.

Street Skills: Skilled Investigator is a solid flavor card here. Previous iterations had Interrogation Room, but I swapped it to make sure we got atium in the deck. In a way, we did end up utilizing the "Spy" trait, which is more than can usually be said, so we'll take the thematic win. The extra information from the alter-ego ability could also represent street smarts, informants, things like that...

This is a fairly easy deck to pilot, with a lot of low-cost plays to sequence each turn. A fun one to hand to new players, and exciting enough for me to enjoy. It's probably best at 1-2 players, but a solid jack-of-all-trades deck at higher counts as well.

Thanks for reading. And remember: if all else fails, throw a coin and see what happens ;)
