Boomguy at the Winning Hand podcast put out a request to see some decks made using Great Responsibility. It is a card I've rarely used but I thought I'd take a stab at building a deck around it. So here goes...
The Banner Minion Rehabilitation Institute
Hello, my name is Dr. Bruce Banner and I'm excited to introduce you to our groundbreaking facility devoted to the successful rehabilitation of those unfortunate enough to have become ensnared by Minion-hood. This devastating affliction draws both powered and unpowered individuals into dangerous confrontations with heroes and encourages anti-social behavior.
Here at BMRI we use a variety of methods to contain and rehabilitate current minions and begin their journey to recovery.
First we must locate them and isolate them from their current villainous environment. Our experienced staff (Blade, Deadpool, Grant Ward) all have experience on the wrong side of the law and this allows them to better operate within this environment (Infiltration), locate at-risk minions and relocate them to our secure facility (The Raft) using our dedicated transport vehicle (Quincarrier).
Once there, our clients will be fully assessed to determine the best course of treatment (Assess the Situation) and they will get to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere (Down Time, Recuperation) in our open-floorplan facility (Clear the Area). Meanwhile a world-class medical lab will begin to process any social, biological or cybernetic manipulation that has been performed on them (Banner's Laboratory).
It is our deep conviction to aid these unfortunate individuals and we take it seriously (Great Responsibility). We use a variety of methods to deprogram their villainous inclinations, from classic talk therapy (Interrogation Room), to interpersonal counseling (Show of Empathy), even roleplaying (Disguise).
While it may seem that your loved one is an Immovable Object, I can assure you that we are an Unstoppable Force with Limitless Strength when it comes to helping our clients.
**Actual Gameplay**
I put this together rather quickly and have only had a couple of chances to playtest it so far, and then only in true solo. But it has proven to be a fun deck to play and, as tends to be the case with Hulk decks, likes to win quickly and tends to run into trouble if the game stretches out.
If you can get Quincarrier out early, it is a huge help in both paying for cards and for having the necessary resource types, usually Physical, for many of your cards.
Infiltration works very well with Hulk, being inexpensive to play and its penalty being minions who are generally not a problem for Hulk to remove. When he does, he may even benefit from Interrogation Room and/or The Raft as well. Sending minions to The Raft works well for him as it makes future Infiltration cards less likely to draw a minion.
Great Responsibility can be used to deal with Advance/Dark Designs or any other bigger chunk of threat as Hulk can usually spare the HP and he has incredible potential for healing in this deck. Fully set-up with Banner's Laboratory and Down Time, he can heal for 8 hp in Alter-Ego using Recuperation and not even exhaust. I rarely defended with him while playing.
I really like Assess the Situation with Hulk when I have the space for it. It will either pay for a card in hand or give you a better hand next turn and is rarely a drawback to a Hulk hand of cards, especially since that card would have just been thrown away at the end of the turn anyway if he didn't use it.
All of your allies are intended to stick around and help with damage and threat. You can chump with them if you have to, but they are good to have around to supplement your activations.
This is still a Hulk deck, and that mean punching and punching hard. All of these Justice shenanigans are here as a companion piece to Hulk Smash, Crushing Blow and Thunderclap. In solo play, one Hulk Smash can be most, if not all of an entire villain stage.
For Multiplayer, especially 3-4 player multiplayer, you may want to consider switching out Clear the Area for For Justice! as you will need bigger thwart numbers.
A++ write up, deck looks really fun may have to break Hulk out again. I'm a sucker for minion smashing decks
