Face The Past Shenanigans
Face the Past has been a fun card to build around. For example, you likely have seen how Thor can use it to draw 5 cards and ready using his "Have At Thee" response. But have you seen this combo where Venom can draw 10 cards! No?? Well then keep on reading...
Calling Out the Symbiotes
The main idea here is to use Face The Past in order to bring all of the Enraged Symbiote nemesis minions into play at once. This will draw you three cards and ready. However, one challenge to Venom is how he can deal with a surge of four minions all at once. The Multi-Gun is awesome for mowing down a bunch of minions, but it's only one damage each.
If you leave all the baby Symbiotes out, it can be a big problem, as they'll collectively deal you 8 damage. You could use a basic attack and the Multi-Gun to knock out two of them, but then you'll still be left with two on your turn. Not ideal.
Multi-Target Ally Attacks
This is where allies like Boom Boom, Dust and/or Rictor come into play. They are all able to deal damage to multiple targets at once, giving you the ability to knock 1 HP of each of the Symbiotes out there. After this, you can then use the Multi-Gun to take out that 2nd HP and clear the board. This makes getting one of these three allies out a priority once you get the Multi-Gun on the table, as you'll want one of these before triggering Face The Past
Draw 10
The way you really get to draw all the cards though is found in "Bring It" and Hall of Heroes. You'll want to wait on Face the Past until you also have a copy of "Bring It" in hand, or you are quite certain you'll draw one at the bottom of the deck. With at least 4 minions in front of you, you'll be able to draw 4 more cards immediately before you use a minion and the Multi-Gun combo. Then, with Hall of Heroes down, you'll have 4 tokens immediately, which can be used when you flip down to get 3 more cards. Maybe on this turn... probably on a later turn though.
Stocking Resources
Much of the rest of the deck is a personal preference on how to play Venom, so you should feel very much encouraged to change out the 3x Enhanced Awareness and Enhanced Physique cards. Since you can't attack the villain again this turn, you will have a handful of cards, but may not have much to do. I personally love to stock resources to bank for later turns. You can only do this combo once, but if can set you up for the game. Just like with Hall of Heroes, you'll be able to save up for later, and I particularly prefer to save the resources needed to trigger Grasping Tendrils and Behind Enemy Lines, as I think those are his best cards. But if you ever find you don't have a 2nd fist or mental resource needed to meet the trigger, all of a sudden those two cards become very mediocre.
Rounding Out The Deck
I find that I like Bug in this deck because I do a lot of basic attacks, so it gives me another source of ping damage or a single threat removal. You could add some upgrades for him if that suits your playstyle though.
The Player Side Schemes are all good for pulling a card from the deck you need. Lock and Load is good if you haven't found the Multi-Gun first. Build Support is for Hall of Heroes, especially if you discarded it during Flash's Armed and Ready setup requirement. Superpower Training could be used for either the Multi-Gun, or for Spider-Sense, which is one of my favorites to get down early.
Crew Quarters is my 40th card choice. It really depends on the game, but if I'm tanking attacks or using my Symbiotic Bond ability regularly, it's nice to be able to flip down and heal for 8 using Crew Quarters and Project Rebirth 2.0 on consecutive turns.
Ending
Thanks for checking out this deck. If you look at my decks regularly, you'll know that I try and find combos that you may not have seen before, so I hope this was something you'll find interesting and fun to try the next time you hit the table. As always, I always appreciate a like on the deck, or a a comment to engage with down below.
Until next time Champions...

One thing I forgot to mention in the writeup is that it can also be used if you just pull your nemesis normally. I use Standard III and just played a game where I had the come Symbiotes out because Pursued By The Past triggered, and then brought them all back then next turn again using Face the Past. I had so many Hall of Heroes counters! |

That's awesome definitely got some value of HoH that game. I really like the addition of the enhanced upgrades to hit his kickers, forgot to mention that. |

Jan 12, 2025This feels like a great shell for a Follow Through overkill build. You play FtP, get a bunch of wesk minions into play, put them at 1 health with Multi-Gun and go to town with Savage Attack and Relentless Assault. This also gets around the drawback of FtP of not being able to attack the villain. Something like: +3 Follow Through +3 Relentless Assault +2 Power of Aggression +1 Moment of Triumph +2 Looking for Trouble -6 Enhanced Awareness/Physique -1 Combat Training -1 Cew Quarters -3 player side schemes/allies |

Jan 12, 2025Cool deck! Any events that didn't make the cut? Was thinking that relying on allies must be tough at times and it might be useful to have something like One by One. |

Those allies are really all there just because it gives three options for getting that 1 damage to all the minions. That X-23 pack really helped a lot there adding a few more options so I'm not reliant on just Dust alone. I really don't rely on the allies for much else to be honest. Venom is so strong that he can take care of most issues especially once he gets all his weapons out IMO. |
Jan 13, 2025Awesome use of Face the Past! Gotta say, you are now my favorite deck builder on this site. I'm always consistently impressed by the things you come up with. You publish the exact type of unique combo decks that I love to see |
