So Cable tends to have a lot of beef with a lot of people, but he has reasons! Gambit ruined his floating utopian island and broke his computer.
Bishop kind of hunted him through time trying to kill his daughter.
So yeah, a bit of a grudge is justified. So why no get some Justice! This deck lets Bishop & Gambit earn some redemption working along side Cable. That is, if Professor X doesn't steal the lime light. Dude is way more hardcore than you think
Gunboat Diplomacy is a pretty slick card. Double dip by doing some thwarting AND get to distribute it as damage? Yes please. Cable gets large in Thwart pretty easily. He also likes to mix it up with X-Men. He also really really likes guns. Boats... not sure. This is kind of the heart of this deck. It is cheap, and pairs well. So let's learn how to deploy it.
Card Guide
Bishop - Gunboat let's you use Bishops thwart as a thwart and damage without him getting damaged. This is great, because he wants to hang around and soak up some tokens letting Cable take some shots.
Gambit - He is a gamble. You really want to be able to see what is coming up in the encounter deck by using a Precognition. If you do it right, he is a 3 or 4 thwart and a great pair for Gunboat. But... he is kind of situational and a risk.
Professor X - He is actually your best friend. 3 thwart for gunboat. Confuses the villain. Blocks an attack. Professor will be the primary target for Chance Encounter most of the time. He is just so good for Gunboat.
Triage - Really just here to keep your other allies healthy.
For Justice! - Better than Mind Scan while you are building up victory display.
Gunboat Diplomacy - Workhorse of the deck. Gives you Thwart & Damage to distribute as you see fit.
One Way or Another - Great to snag an easy to defeat side scheme from encounter deck to give you a ready if you dont have a PSS in play. Also you get 3 cards. I only run 1 copy because there are scenarios where you don't want any of the side schemes. Also if there is not any side schemes left in the encounter deck, bad news.
The Power of the Mind - Professor is Psionic as well as great Cable kit cards.
X-Bunker - Alter ego card draw. With Professor X coming out often you get confusion on villain to allow you safely to dip into AE.
Chance Encounter - Use this to get an ally back into your hand. The best choice is usually Professor X, see above. BUT getting Bishop out early. Or Gambit when you know you have a Precognition is good.
Sense of Justice - Really helps resource economy. Remember Gunboat is also a Thwart event!
Quick use Summary
Specialized Training is your best friend. Prioritize it when possible. Grabbing Surveillance Specialist gets you a card, and a +1 Thwart. Keep an X-men ally out there to use with Gunboat. Defeat PSS as fast as you can till you get to 4 for rifle. Remember Keep Up the Pressure can call a gunboat with damage kicker. It is often a great late game play because you might already have a Telekinetic Blast and things get expensive fast. Use Chance Encounter every time it pops up. Other than that it is just standard Cable. Build up to thin down deck. Lean into heavy thwart. Should get to 5 thwart pretty quick. Technovirus Purge, Surveillance Specialist, Heroic Intuition.
If you do not like the Redemption arch.... Try swapping out the none Prof X allies for these. Blindfold, Chamber, Marvel Girl They are all Psionics trait. Economy is high and they all have backup abilities if Gunboat is not in the hand.
