From this high up they look like ants! So the next deck in my "off meta" hero/aspect challenge is this Thor Protection deck. This is kind of a minion control deck to help lean into you hero ability to draw cards.

There is no way around this everyone must think I'm crazy because Height Advantage is included, so lets talk about that. Height Advantage is a weird/bad card. It's 2 ER for -1 damage per attack. Which isn't good on it's own, but Thor is 1 of 3 heroes with what amounts to guaranteed access to Aerial and Thor likes minions. So if it can reduce the damage from multiple sources it gets a bit better. Okay so the card might have upgraded from bad to whatever, but what about reducing it's cost? Both Ever Vigilant and Height Advantage have the Aerial trait, which is why I chose to include Team-Building Exercise. TBE is there to help set up and once set up it's likely going to be dedicated to Ever Vigilant and Height Advantage leaving God of Thunder available to pay for other stuff.

Okay so maybe I sold you on giving Height Advantage a try, but now you must think I'm stupid because I didn't include Limitless Stamina or What Doesn't Kill Me. Since this is more of a mitigation deck I didn't find myself exhausting to defend as much and also with Godlike Stamina and Thor's health pool I decided I had more readies than needed. Though I did do most of the deck testing with Whatever Doesn't Kill me I found that the lack of a requirement, the aerial trait, and Thor's and protection thwarting struggles I chose Ever Vigilant. Anticipation was chosen to combo with Defender of the Nine Realms as well to help with thwarting and dealing with minions.

As far as allies goes feel free to switch them around as you feel, specifically Protector. I do like to try to include cards that don't get a lot of action and Protector works in this deck with the amount of but she could easily switched out. Jocasta could help you retrieve Not Today! as it's only defensive event in the deck as well as being another target for TBE. Starhawk is a tried and true staple among many protection decks and is also a target for TBE. If you really think this deck needs more healing/readies, feel free to include Whatever Doesn't Kill Me. Personally I'd cut Godlike Stamina as I prefer to know that I have a cleanse with The Night Nurse instead of hoping to draw into one and they heal the same so the value of the cards stays on the same curve.

I have created an excel document that calculates at a statistical level if a deck covers the different facets of the game (threat control, damage, survivability, etc). In case it helps, this is the data it shows about your deck.

Deck Rating

I couldn't puzzle out Anticipation, but when you explained the combo with D9R, I chuckled. That's clever. Looks like a good deck. I like that there's plenty of binder fodder here in a happy home.

I've been hashing out a Valk protection deck. This gives me some new different ideas. Might mess with it a bit. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi @SpanishMalcolm, can you share the Excel file? Looks super interesting. Cheers! Nice deck OP, I love both Thor and Protection, I'll give it a try.
