I've long wanted to make a Forcefield Generator Groot deck, unfortunately play time has been severely low since Sinister Motives (alas!).

Of course by now a few similar decks have popped up so it's not like I'm proposing something entirely new (VillainTheory, namely, had a good one, check it out: https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/22938/forcefield-grootinator-expert-1.0)

I made a few different choices, however, and the release of Mutant Genesis provided a very cool addition to my list.

So, here's my take on it.

What's the big idea?

By now lots of players must have realized that Forcefield Generator, because it is a "forced Interrupt", can protect your growth counters, when cards like Energy Barrier couldn't.

The idea is to preserve your counters as much as possible, making it possible to use "I. AM. GROOT!" for up to 10 DMG and "I am Groot" for up to 10 THW, as well as having said counters at hand to use with Entangling Vines, Lashing Vines, Vine Shield or Vine Spikes. Finally, you can play Groot like he was meant to be played.

Playing the deck

Well it goes without saying: protect your counters! You do it by defending, hence Armored Vest and Unflappable, but also by putting Forcefield Generator in play. Repurpose the Forcefield Generator when it's low on counters for a solid hit to the villain's face (and don't forget Lashing Vines can help you get more out of it!).

Allies are meant to help you thwart, especially early game, and take hits while you set up. As a solo expert player, Multiple Man may be one of your top choices to mulligan for (3 THW, 3 blocks!), but Snowguard is also a solid choice for thwarting (like, expert Klaw's 2 side schemes...). Professor X is a great addition, adding confuse, 3 thw and block... makes it so much easier to revert to AE once in a while, replenish your counters and use Fertile Ground.

Quite a few stuns (Mockingbird, Iron Fist) and also a special mention for Daredevil, who can take down 1 atk minions on his own (take that, Ultron drones!).

That's it!

Have fun!
