"This deck takes advantage of updated rules, focusing on increased hand size with a rotating swarm of allies that need avenged" ~D.M. Tip
Rules of Vengeance
With the recent updated Rules Reference 1.8, I thought it would be fun to revisit Iron Man since his identity no longer caps his hand size at 7. Previously, cards that increased your hand size, like Assess the Situation, would not work. This always bothered me because Tony is on the art!
Expanding this theme a bit more, we're focusing on some card draw while actually using many of our allies, versus something like Strength In Numbers (a personal favorite of mine). Slap on a loose theme of suits in true Iron Man fashion, and we've set the stage for vengeance.
Allies and Tech
I normally don't like to include a lot of allies, except specific archetypes that require it (SiN or TMMXM). But here, I make a huge exception. We our up to helmet in Avengers allies, and we're going to use them.
Tech is always the early priority, as with most Iron Man decks, so an ally or two early on provides a Reinforced Suit target which helps reach our max hand size while keeping up with early tempo.
Suited to Vengeance
However, the goal isn't to suit up all of our allies and keep them around. Some must be avenged when they fall on the battlefield with"Avenge Me!" fits into the mix for additional card draw while keeping up with tempo.
Additionally, we have Symbiote Suit, which not only boosts our hand size, but also our core stats and health, making better use of Arc Reactor.
Take vengeance on the villain with Repulsor Blast and Supersonic Punch to finish the game.
Overall, I've had a lot of fun with this deck, testing it against Electro Getaway in 3p and just crushing it. Between an army of allies and hero events, it's got solid tempo with strong closing power. I highly recommend giving Iron Man another shot if he's collecting dust and I look forward to fielding this one again soon. How are you building him after the rules reference update?
Peace!
What a title!
