This deck is mainly designed to be in Winged Shape for about 75+% percent of the game. You'll likely want to stay in it until you have completed all player side schemes. By staying in this single form, your deck will basically be comprised of 7 doubles resource cards. If you count Shapeshifter as a double, since you can find a Shape with it, that would be 8 double resources. Since Wiccan can find Shapeshifter, that's essentially 9 double resources. Nine double resources is insanity for a 40 card deck. That said, once you're done your first deck pass, your deck will be significantly smaller. You have 3 player side schemes and Face the Past which will remove themselves from the deck when completed. You also have various cards which will just stick around on the board.

So why have I chosen the cards that I've chosen? I want a massive economy to be able to play Lockjaw and Nightcrawler both in the same turn, every turn if necessary, to avoid any damage. Avoiding damage is what protection does, right? The villain will likely only be able to attack you once. If they get an encounter that's an activation, they might get to attack twice. So, once you're up an running, you're completely covered and should never really take damage from the villain's attacks. Nightcrawler is the ultimate "I don't think so." He defends for you, then you pay your energy and send him back to hand. It doesn't matter if the attack has piercing, overkill, or 20+ damage. You're not taking damage. If a villain has a penchant for indirect damage, Lockjaw has 4 health if you don't activate with him. Since we shouldn't need to play Lockjaw and Nightcrawler every turn, we should have resources to play events to do whatever else we need to do to win the game.

Would we have the resources to do that? Well, if you start in Alter-Ego, you'll have 5 cards + you can fetch a double (that's 7 resources), you can use Avengers Mansion (that's 8), you can use Helicarrier (that's 9), you can use Quincarrier (that's 10), you can potentially use a specialist training from Specialized Training (that's 11), you can potentially use Deft Focus (that's 12), and you can use Alien Physiology (which is 13 - 14). You could likely play both allies and still have resources left over. Additionally, you could have an even bigger hand size if you used Assess the Situation or two on the previous turn. Assess the Situation can be amazing for a free 2 thwart/damage/heal using your Shapes (usually it will be thwarting). So, you'll could have more than 14 resources available to you on a given round since doubles in your hand increase those 14 resources and as previously stated, this deck has a lot of doubles. You might even be able to use your Winged Shape (and others) multiple times if you're able to play Shapeshifter Strike.

Winged Shape is the preferred shape. A single Ever Vigilant while in Winged Shape, mean you could clear up to 8 threat in a round: 2 on the main, 2 activations, and exhausting Winged Shape for the event. Considering we have 3 player side schemes, Ever Vigilant is a great card to help clear those while managing everything else with the board state. Build Support will get you Altman Residence, Quincarrier, or Helicarrier. If you're taking heavy hits, Altman Residence is a good option for healing and economy (shuffling a double into the deck for a future grab). You should have easy access to alter-ego between 3x Ready for a Fight + Practiced Plan and 2x Impersonation. Superpower Training will get you Alien Physiology. Since you have so much thwarting with Winged Shape and Ever Vigilant and you eventually shouldn't ever be taking damage when setup, I'd probably recommend Combat Specialist from Specialized Training.

If you go through all of your Ever Vigilant cards in a deck cycle, you have an insane amount of minions, or you're ready for the killshot, you can probably switch to Hulk Shape and go wild. If you've taken a lot of damage, you could potentially go Armored Shape. Once your deck cycles or if the villain schemes for a lot, you can always go back to Winged Shape easily enough with all of the cards in his kit and how easily he can access alter-ego.

Hope you like the deck and have fun feeling overpowered.

I believe Nightcrawler can only defend for an X-Men character which Hulkling does not have.

@Tahiro Nightcrawler can be assigned as a defender of an attack and when he, an X-Man character, would take damage, he can trigger his interrupt. Then he can be replayed the next player phase and rinse repeat.

@NewfieLad Nice, I never thought of the fact that Nightcrawler could trigger the response on himself (never used him before), but that makes perfect sense! Thanks for posting this deck. Looks like you put a lot of work into it and it looks fun. I’ll give it a go!
