who doesn’t love a friend with benefits?
After building “Perfect Defend” deck after “Perfect Defend” deck I felt I needed to spice up Protection play style. I wanted to build a deck who could defend for friends, stay healthy and still use basic THW/ATK on your turn and that became the basis for this deck.
Defending for friends was the easy part. I started with the staple Armored Vest to boost DEF and Electrostatic Armor to deal some damage back to the enemies. When combined with Vibranium Microweave you get a total of 4 DEF. This will really soak up the damage, but if you get hit by more you’re not relying on a “Perfect Block” mechanism to profit.
The first actual puzzle was “If you’re blocking for a friend, how do YOU stay healthy? There’s the option of blocking again if you have a card to let you ready, but what if you just took the hits? This deck is stacked with some nice healing Angel's Aerie can really stack up the counters and What Doesn't Kill Me will heal you and ready you after blocking for your friend. In fact, because of this card you want to have damage otherwise it doesn’t ready you. Vibranium Microweave can also be used to prevent a damage once per turn to help mitigate the pain when blocking with your face. If you find yourself having to flip to AE to use Angel's Aerie, Ready for a Fight will get you right back in the action.
The ultimate goal was to be able to also have the opportunity to exhaust Falcon on your turn. Whether it’s to get rid of an enemy attachment or use your THW/ATK. Chock full of cards that can help you ready this deck has Ever Vigilant, What Doesn't Kill Me and Indomitable.
If you’re readying your Hero you want to make sure you can profit big off it as well. Soaring Acrobatics and Battlefield Awareness will frequently be getting your stats up to 4+. Heck, with an ATK that high let’s get in some bonus damage with Leading Blow. Fun interaction with this card: if the boost number is low on the top card don’t use Battlefield Awareness on the first ATK and save it for the second to maximize damage.
Also, because this deck isn’t Defense Event focused You get to make sure you can play all of your fun Hero cards.
Cosmo seems like an outlier with the deck’s theme, but he is there to enable Falcon’s Hero cards. Use him to discard Villain cards with low boost counts to maximize Falcon’s other cards.
Lastly, we’ve got Cannonball because he is going into an Aerial deck I build. Almost a guaranteed 2 thwart or damage per turn with no consequential damage.
Here is a list of the key cards you want to prioritize:
Vibranium Microweave Angel's Aerie Battlefield Awareness Armored Vest
Also, an early Falcon's Flock can ensure you’re able to get your events played including Ever Vigilant.
This deck can also work Solo play, you’ll just end of using your basic Defense on yourself. I would consider dropping the What Doesn't Kill Me as you will be taking less direct damage and adding some more damage. You can go with Powerful Punch or some allies that can deal damage.
