To date as of this posting, in comics, one branch of the X-Men is being led by Rogue. On her team, the Uncanny X-Men, are Nightcrawler, Gambit, Wolverine, and Jubilee. I really like all these characters in comics, so I thought it would be really fun to build five decks, one for each member of the team, and focusing on multiplayer interactions. I also picked some limitations:

  • No Professor X, he's currently not around for this team. Also no X-Mansion for some reasons.
  • No allies that are on the other main X-Men team, led by Cyclops
  • Only one copy across all five decks of any unique support/ally
  • All the decks can be made with one collection-worth of cards

Here are the other decks:

The idea is any of them can be played together at any multiplayer count (2-4) and one person can be the facilitator and build them all if needed. I'll just mention the overall conceit of the deck and how it interacts with the other decks. I plan on keeping these built for a while so I can pick two and play two-handed games at any time, with any mix of aspects!

The Deck

This is a damage-dealing deck, which means Jubilee's Sunglasses is the priority upgrade to get some more value from it. Some of you are probably scratching your head at Drop Kick being included, but I see it as an extremely flexible card. With Jubilee's Sunglasses, it's 3 for 7 if you ignore the kickers, but with the kickers, it's 4 damage, a status, and a card draw. It also helps turn on Press the Advantage, which is a really great card for deck cycling. Finally, of course Full-Body Charge is great and with The Power of Aggression and Jubilee's hero ability, it's easy to get the +4 damage from Jubilee's Sunglasses (don't forget, wild is a resource type and can also generate other resource types). Multitalented I've found to be very fun and flexible as well.

For allies, we want to prioritize Dust, Goldballs, and Sunfire with Attack Training. Wolverine is a good target as well. Boom Boom is just fun, and thematic, and Tempus can sit on the table until an Advance is flipped.

Synergies With the Other Decks

There are some fun synergies:

  • Danger Room can be used by any of the other heroes (except Nightcrawler's deck, he has no X-Men allies, unless you Honorary Daytripper)
  • Same with Attack Training, this can go on any ally'
  • Jubilee doesn't use basic actions much, so we will probably play Combat Training on our partners like Gambit, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, or Rogue.
  • Jubilee's status is strong, and augmented with Drop Kick
  • Tempus acts as an Advance emergency button
  • Sunfire helps the team with removing attachments

Role

  • Primary - Damage and Minion Mitigation
  • Secondary - Status Control

Other Considerations

The basic cards can be swapped between decks if you feel you like X-Jet in Jubilee more than Nightcrawler, for instance, but I did like the artificial limit of one X-Support per hero, it felt like a fun and interesting limitation. But hey, it's your game! Do what you want, and I hope you have fun!
