Skip to Castling (3 Steps Ahead) for the juicy stuff.

King (actually Bishop)

Mulligan for Bishop's Uniform or your resource generators. The deck works fine if you don't get your resource generators (he's got great economy), but his Uniform helps him survive so it's more important. If you didn't get the suit then you could take damage from attacks until your uniform gets discarded, then use alter-ego to add it to hand. Or use Superpower Training to get it into play (or your Rifle).

Rook

Hopefully you can get Randall into play after having Danger Room set up, but with Bishop's economy it's not all bad if you can't do it in that order. Randall with Mission Training can net you 3 thwart every turn, and you can heal him with his ability and maybe ready him too.

Castling (3 Steps Ahead)

This deck used to be a Mutant Peacekeepers, but it's not anymore so this name really doesn't fit. However this deck does MUCH better than some silly Mutant Peacekeepers.

You'll want to strive to get Three Steps Ahead and 1 or 2 Passion for Justice in your hand. Passion will increase EACH thwart on an event, so Three Steps has a potential to do three instances of 3 or 4 thwart!

Use Bishop's Stored Energy or your resource generators to help pay for it. Wild can be used as any resource type when paying!

If you know you need to make that 9 thwart play, try not to discard too much when you know there's Three Steps in your deck (you'll miss it!). You can also use Vigilante Training to get it back in your deck.

Bishop (healing)

Multitalented cannot do the same because of the "at least 1" text, but it is good for healing Bishop for when you can't flip down to use Crew Quarters.

Triage will pop in every once in a while to heal you too.

And also maybe keep track of where the resources are when thinking about using Bishop's hero ability and Bishop's Uniform.

Queen

Storm isn't as integral to the deck but she's good thwarting too. Get her with Mission Training and she'll get to move 2 threat and thwart 3. There's actually a loophole here you could exploit: target a scheme with only 1 or 2 threat, move that threat with Storm's ability, then she'll try to thwart a 0 scheme or no scheme. When this happens, she actually doesn't get consequential damage because she did not "thwart" and only attempted to thwart. This works!

Dazzler is your confuser for when you want to flip down. If you're playing a villain with stalwart though, you can cut her from the deck.

Knight

Malcolm is there for some damage, and he can live longer if you heal him or give him Mission Training.

Pawn

If you're lucky, White Fox will get discarded and put into play. My luck tends to be bad with her though so she may be worth cutting.

Resources

The resource generators are Avengers Mansion, The X-Jet, Sense of Justice, and the Front Line Specialist from Specialized Training. All of these draw cards or generate a resource.

If you have another player at the table using The X-Jet, you COULD swap yours for a Helicarrier but be warned that will make your Multitalented and Three Steps Ahead a little harder to pull off (unless that player shares). I do think Bishop is the better choice to keep the X-Jet due to how this deck works.

Edit: Moira MacTaggert works great here.

You could also just cut X-Jet. You can also cut Avengers Mansion. Again, you can still pull off everything without the resource generators due to Bishop's economy.

Conclusion

I did not intend for this write up to get so long but here it is! A chess themed Bishop.

You can for sure cut cards down so you have a perfect 40, here are the aforementioned cards I suggested you could cut:

I also don't see any public Bishop decks with Three Steps Ahead, so I guess this is the first one!
