Every expansion seems to give Spider-Woman new toys, the decks just keep improving. Justice/Leadership already had plenty of strong points, but now it has access to both Skilled Investigator and Mission Leader along with Player Side Schemes.
The general plan is to always have side schemes available to defeat via the Player Side Schemes or One Way or Another. Skilled Investigator and Mission Leader give you two cards each time, or even 3 if you used Clear the Area. In multiplayer you even help your team via draws from Mission Leader and Maria Hill.
The other part of the deck relies on allies for more draws. Call for Backup gives an easy way to play Captain Marvel, which is sometimes difficult as Finesse cannot pay for her. Wolfsbane is great here with Jessica Drew's Alter-Ego ability and late game your deck will be mostly events anyway, giving a high success rate even if you can't flip. You can keep these allies in play the whole game with heals from United We Stand and Innovation. That also means you have 4-6 thwart on hand whenever you need it.
All of the card draw is particularly useful for Spider-Woman. More cards means you are likely to see multiple aspects in the same turn, enabling stat boosts from the Superhuman Agility ability. Cycling through the deck quickly also means that you see United We Stand and Innovation often enough to keep allies healed.
The rest of the write-up is just more details on particular points and some other card choices to consider, so read on if you feel like it, or feel free to skip it if you can already see why everything is here! There is really not much setup required to reliably get 7+ cards every turn, and drawing cards is always fun.
Points on card choices/combos:
- The classic Rapid Response + Agent Coulson, you will always have an ally to defend with.
- Later on you will have plenty of tough statuses and allies, so it can be worth using Rapid Response on Captain Marvel (or even Maria Hill in multiplayer) instead. At that point Agent Coulson becomes a way to search for Rapid Response.
- Plenty of resources from Quincarrier, Deft Focus, and Finesse.
- Dazzler is a great for Med Lab, once you have her there can guarantee a confuse when flipping to Alter-Ego. Fills in gaps when you don't get Pheromones and helps give extra confuses against Steady villains.
- Take Out the Guards helps to control minions, which Spider-Woman can struggle with. Usually try to use the other Player Side Schemes first, then this can be left in play until needed. Extremely useful in scenarios that bring out minions at specific points (ie. On The Run).
- Sunspot also helps with minions, it is good with the resources from Finesse and Quincarrier.
- Mostly cheap cards - only have 4 cards with 3 cost and 2 cards with 4 cost, and two of those will be put into play via Player Side Schemes. Keeping a low cost curve and the draws enable you to play multiple aspects to reliably boost your stats.
There were many other cards I considered here, which is best depends on the situation. Here are a few:
- Maria Hill is not essential if playing solo.
- The thwart events are pretty flexible, you can change them depending on whether you need more/less. In solo might not need as much thwart, could swap out a Justice event for Turn the Tide. For higher player counts you could add in extra For Justice! or Multitasking.
- Go All Out and Innovation or a copy of United We Stand can be removed if you need to add a different leadership card. You should also remove United We Stand if facing something with no stage number.
- The Triskelion for having another ally in play.
- Can put in Inspired for Captain Marvel.
- Make the Call is useful for higher player counts to allow getting Maria Hill at the start of the players phase, even if you are not the first player that round.
- Extra copies of Skilled Investigator if not playing solo. Can give one to another playing if you want to be nice!
- Add Superpower Training if it would be useful for other players.
I am strangely drawn to this deck ;)
