"So let’s make the most of this beautiful day, Since we’re together we might as well say, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbor?"
- Captain America
Ok, so this particular neighbourhood may be populated by people named Fury, Fist, Cage and Widow, but don't let that fool you. It's absolutely the safest place you could choose to call home.
Much like his younger (?) brother Fred, Steve Rogers is a man dedicated to the well-being of everyone he meets. For his closest friends this means keeping them safe from physical harm. For the villains, this means helping them work out their anger issues - although we'll overlook his controversial fondness for shock therapy.
More prosaically, prioritise getting out all your defence upgrades, steeling your nerves and you really will be able to do your protection thing all day. The chances are you'll have a 1-cost defence event (Desperate Defense, Preemptive Strike, Never Back Down) in your hand at any given time, and you'll be able to play it for "free". Readying is on tap through multiple avenues and you'll be dealing damage even as you block every attack on yourself and your partner (assuming a two-player game).
I'm by no means a great player, but I've honestly struggled to lose with this deck, or even to take any meaningful damage - which makes Steve's Apartment all the recovery you need. Have a go, see what you think!
One warning though: much like Fred Rogers, this deck is a wholesome and very grounded affair. Jazzy and swingy it is not. Games are long and predictable affairs that you almost always win...
... but if that sounds like your cup of tea, then this could be the "beautiful day in the neighborhood" you've been looking for.
