I learned Marvel Champions playing Shadowcat, whom I fell in love wayyy back in the Kitty Pryde Wolverine mini-series. So with the new protection cards that have arrived in Fear No Evil, I wanted to change up the normal way I play her in protection, which is almost always a variation of the excellent Drunken Master deck by dr00.

For this deck, I am forgoing the strategy of always being in phased form for every defense. Also, the focus is not dealing damage on the villain phase, so I didn't add Change of Fortune. Instead, this deck builds up Kitty's basic defense, which will allow her to take some hits in Solid form without being in much danger. It also adds value to In Harm's Way, a card every protection deck seems to be running these days :). We also are using Defiance and Powerful Punch, both of which allow us to defend and tank villain attacks while in solid form.

Defending for the table? We have plenty of ways to to do that. Ready with Ready to Rumble and Ronin during the villain phase. Are you exhausted now? It's the hero phase, so get yourself pepped up with Army of One or Shadowcat Surprise. Stunned? That's why you have a private nurse on the team.

Resources come from The X-Jet, Taunt, Unflappable, and Quick Shift(try to save this for when you are in phased form, but in a pinch it does work for solid, but kinda feels bad).

The deck is more than about just defending. We have bolstered threat removal with extra readies and Get Their Attention, which may not be the greatest economy-wise, but for Kitty it allows her to defend without exhausting, and it can be used to declare yourself the defender for others. In Harm's Way also adds threat removal and extra damage, and of course her multiple readies can also increase damage output.
