This Was The FUNNIEST Cameo In Any Marvel Movie!

Wolverine cameo in X-Men First Class

X-Men First Class is not even in my top 20 Marvel movies but when I first saw this scene, I laughed out loud in the theatre! Comedy gold and perfectly in character.

Not just a gimmick deck though - this deck works!

As with any Colossus deck, you want to flip down and use Armor Up as often as possible - Aspiring Artist shuffles them back in and Piotr's Studio/Weapon X give you two chances to find them. All those discarded allies create a buffet of utility for Make the Call. Forge can grab a discarded X-Jet or X-Mansion. Maria Hill and Nick Fury help you find Armor Up. White Queen takes care of stuns and confuses. Marrow brings 4-6 damage. And obviously the Professor is great for Colossus.

But the two that you will keep on the table all game will be Wolverine (who heals every time Colossus goes to AE) and Shadowcat (who is kept alive forever by X-Mansion). Both have solid Team - Ups that will not come up every game but are awesome when they do. Important is not to rush these two though - you need to set up your economy first and get through the early game. You will probably not have them out for the first deck cycle or two.

Early Game

Moira and Iron Will are critical the first time you see them. Avengers Mansion is great if you can get it down but you may have to wait until the mid game depending on doubles. Try to get out either Piotr's Studio or Weapon X to find Armor Up regularly. Use Professor X and Steel Fist to confuse the Villain as needed to flip down.

Mid Game

Use allies to take care of threat and minions. The Triskelion and New Recruits let Colossus lead a bigger army. Team Training and Danger Room Training help your signature allies once they are set up.

Late Game

This deck gets progressively stronger over 3-4 deck passes before you start really attacking the Villain. But once Wolverine is out it is time to start using Fastball Special, Steel Fist, Shadow and Steel, and Made of Rage with impunity. Recurring Marrow and Nick Fury for damage with Make the Call also helps end the game quickly.

Strategy Tips

  • The rhythm of Armor Up -> Moira MacTaggert -> end in Alter-Ego for a six card hand is what you should be trying to maximize.

  • Make the Call allows you to put Marrow and White Queen into play from Alter-Ego.

  • Think ahead if you plan to use Weapon X. This is one card that is better in a blue deck since Leadership doesn't have as many ways to give your hero a tough compared to Protection. You can block with allies to preserve your toughs - but use them up before you flip down.

  • Holding on to an Armor Up until next turn is often the right move. You don't have Ready for a Fight so finding and using your Armor Ups matters more.

If you don't like my friends...

There is lots of room in this deck to make it your own, especially with the allies. Ant-Man turns Make the Call into a 0 cost tough after you get Team Training on the table. Gambit can help you flip down safely. Kaluu digs for Armor Up. Even White Fox could work! Beak, Kid Omega, Pixie, Miles...whatever you like! Just have fun and let me know which ones worked best for you!
