Nice Attachment. Shame If Something Happened to It.
Attachments ruining your game plan? Not anymore.
This deck was created after a randomizer assignment: Spider-Man (Leadership) — All the Small Things — paired with Captain America (Protection) against Expert Escape the Museum with Goblin Gimmicks and Mystique.
It took a few attempts to beat this scenario. The Collector on a Goblin Glider can be a real problem—even for Cap and Spidey. I quickly realized those nasty attachments needed to be dealt with immediately, and that’s exactly what this deck is built to do.
Captain America wants to defend—especially for Jocasta, who can hold Disarming Defense. However, Cap can only defend once during the villain phase, so sometimes it’s better to take a hit or sacrifice an ally. Fortunately, this deck pairs with the Spider-Man All the Small Things deck, which provides extra allies willing to step in when needed.
Of course, Cap has Shield Block, and What Doesn't Kill Me helps him recover and stay active during the player phase.
Jump Flip and True Grit are mainly for the early game, helping you keep threat under control while you build your board.
Ready for a Fight is extremely reliable. It requires a physical resource, and since Cap can generate two, you’re almost never unable to play it. It’s great when you want to flip down—and even better when your teammate does.
Blade is a cheap Avenger ally who works perfectly with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Simply play him and exhaust him to ready Cap. The real value comes from Cap himself—especially if you’ve played Fearless Determination. It’s not uncommon to thwart three times in a turn, and with Symbiote Suit in play, that's a lot of threat removal.
So how do you deal with nasty attachments?
First, try to prevent them from entering play. Some attachments come in via boost effects, and Target Acquired shuts that down. If one does slip through, look no further than Jocasta. When you play her, make sure to attach Disarming Defense underneath her and use it as soon as possible. Problem solved.
This deck also includes Evaluate Threat and Helicarrier. Evaluate Threat has slightly less threat than Build Support but offers more flexibility in targets. However, timing is key—you’ll want to clear it at the right moment to maximize its value. If preferred, it can easily be swapped for Build Support.
In the end, most problems solve themselves… or rather, get removed the moment they hit the table. Nice attachment. Shame if something happened to it.
I had a lot of fun refining and playing this deck alongside Spider-Man. Be sure to check out that deck as well: Spiderman Peter Parker - All the Small Things.
