This is an entry for The Winning Hand Podcast Episode 79 - Drop Kick.
This is intended for multiplayer, best to pair with a Justice or Leadership player, though Miles has a pretty diverse toolkit such that it could go solo. It works as an Aggression/Protection blend given all the stun potential.
Web-Shooters are Clutch
Web-Shooters are the key for this deck because we want both and to hit the bonuses on our attack events (Drop Kick/Relentless Assault; Web-Shot). Unless you really need something else to finish the game, I recommend shuffling a Web-Shooter into your deck when you switch to alter-ego. Note that the Web-Shooters are also a target for Otto Octavius.
Miles' 15-card set only has 3 and 1 resource, so we have to stuff in as much as we can from aggression and basic cards. At the same time, we don't want to miss out on his Venom Blast when we play Web-Shot, so we need some and as well. You could make a case for The Power in All of Us over Energy, as it would provide a wild for the bonuses. But with Web-Shooters, it's not too difficult to get the resources for Drop Kick.
Card Draw is Nice Too
It's one thing to draw the extra card from Drop Kick. It's another thing to actually be able to do something with it. With Helicarrier and Martial Prowess, Miles has strong economy to make it work. We can easily pay for cheaper events like Mean Swing, Press the Advantage, and Relentless Assault. But one of the real draws to pairing Miles with Drop Kick is Arachnobatics - so much fun to deal a ton of damage for 1 cost. Press the Advantage also provides additional card draw, as does Web of Life and Destiny, Otto Octavius and Ganke Lee. But if you can't play the card you drew, Jarnbjorn is here to take advantage of all the that's available. This deck is designed to deliver multiple instances of small/medium damage per turn, and Jarnbjorn is a key component.
Use Your Basic Attack
Note also that given the stun potential, we have more opportunity to use our basic action to attack. We've got boosts for that in Combat Training, Hand Cannon, and Mean Swing. Additionally, Miles' mentor Peter Parker can ready him for another attack. And the extra that we've stuffed in here works well with Double Life too, allowing you to flip to alter-ego, recover, shuffle in a Web-Shooter, and come back ready to attack.
Aggresion Event Options
The aggression events here are mostly chosen for being relatively cheap and just my personal preference (as well as available in my collection). You might consider other options like Piercing Strike and Surprise Attack for a specific villain and/or playstyle.
Love this one. I added it to the list: marvelcdb.com
