Multiple Manned and Mooned

After sharing my previous Protection deck, someone mentioned to me that Multiple Man could be an effective ally for Wasp. With Stretch22's recent awesome video featuring Ready for a Fight (Ready for a Fight Breakdown + Tier List, I decided to return to Protection to also see how that card could facilitate Wasp's ability to go to alter-ego.

Coincidentally, after my initial builb of the deck, Winning Hand featured Multiple Man, so it gave me additional incentive to try a Multiple Man build. Here's Winnning Hand's video: Episode 78 - How Many Men is too Many Men?. :-)

If you'd like to see a discussion of this deck, see the following video: Coming soon from http://www.youtube.com/@MCDeckDiscussions

  • "Demo" video(s) that shows off some turns with the deck (thanks to instructional videos by Solo Marvel Champions for using DragnCards): Coming soon vs. Ronan the Accuser...

VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST to refine the deck and/or game play strategies (in both standard and expert): Klaw (with an expert house rule(1)); Ebony Maw; Ronan the Accuser; and Magneto.

Results: Great deck against Klaw, Ebony Maw, and Magneto; defeated Standard Ronan on the 2nd attempt; Expert Ronan was generally too overwhelming, though there was a close game.

NOTABLE ELEMENTS:

Allies: The purpose of each ally is as follows:

  • Grant Ward: Cheap thwarts or attacks; easy to play mental resources to keep him in play.
  • Moon Girl: Card draw
  • Multiple Man: Flexible attacking and thwarting and lots of defending; facilitates kit setup.
  • Nick Fury: For card draw.
  • Nick Fury, Sr.: Removes 3 threat from a scheme or draws 2 cards.
  • Professor X: To Confuse the villain and allow Wasp to stay in alter-ego form without having to use up Ready for a Fight.
  • Vivian: To blank out certain minions or side schemes.

Ready for a Fight Enables Recycling of Key mental resource cards into the Deck using Wasp's alter-ego action. The typical card choices to recycle include the following (though other choices can be strategically made as well):

Conclusion:

This is a very strong flexible deck. I generally found that the addition of Multiple Man allowed me to get the supports and upgrades into play much more readily, increasing Wasp's likelihood of dominating the villain and playing the attack events over and over again, which is faciliatated by being able to regularly go to alter-ego form. Ronan is a bit much to handle, but the deck was highly effective against the other villains, including Expert Magneto.

(1) Note on expert house rule for Klaw: This modification assures that expert Klaw makes for a consistently challenging villain during playtesting. After discarding cards at the beginning of the game and putting into play the first minion that is discarded from the encounter deck, if that minion is NOT a Masters of Evil minion, I search the encounter deck for a Masters of Evil minion and replace the original discarded minion with it. I then shuffle that original minion back into the deck.
