T'Challa's Royal Guard
This deck focuses on getting T'Challa's "royal guard" (DORA MILAJE allies) into play and keeping it there for most - if not all - of the game. They will do a LOT of work for your over time!
Black Panther has the economy to play them when they enter your hand, but can also get them with Make the Call and Call for Backup.
Once in play you'll keep them alive with First Aid, Inspiring Presence, Innovation, and Dora Milaje, and can buff them with Inspired.
Quincarrier is here to play Wakanda Forever (or anything of course) and is a great target for Build Support.
The primary target for Build Support is Dora Milaje though. It's free when played from hand, but getting it into play as early as possible keeps you allies fighting!
The "Flex" allies
There are two "Flex" allies in the deck which you can replace for your own goals or for the villain you're facing:
- Maria Hill for a draw, THW 2 and defend
- Mockingbird for a stun, a couple uses and defend
Swap either or both of them for one of these (or any ally you want, of course):
- White Tiger if you're playing Expert
- White Wolf if you want to keep it in the WAKANDA family.
- Atlas Bear for the same reason (although that's not a good enough reason IMO)
- Hawkeye if the villain has lot of minions
- Cyclops if you just want big damage on a turn (don't forget you can Make the Call for him)
- Nick Fury for more sweet card draw
- Professor X for confuse and 3 THW
This is a great place to say that you should have allies which do a thing you need, and always know what you want to find with Call for Backup!
For many games with this deck, that's Okoye, but when playing Ultron that shifted to Hawkeye, and in games with Professor X swapped in, he'd probably become the most valuable target (because you swapped him in for a reason)!
Testing
I tested through the "Core Gauntlet":
- Standard and Expert Rhino: Won both
- Standard and Expert Klaw: Won both
- Standard and Expert Ultron: Won both, with one swap for expert:
Changes made during testing
I dropped a few cards I liked but never played:
- Face the Past which I love in core heroes, because the core Nemeses are all pretty easy to deal with.
- Heart of the Panther never lined up for me. I had it in hand once with Shuri on the table, but Concussive Blast knocked her out.
- Team Training was played once, but I got into "chump block" mode at one point and the extra HP didn't matter.
I swapped all three of those for First Aid, which helped keep my allies alive (I never played it on myself).
Opening Hand
What I most want to see in my opening hand is The Golden City and any ally. Dora Milaje is nice to see in my opening hand, but I'm not too worried if I don't. I'd also like a double resource to play whichever BP Upgrade I grab with his Foresight ability. This depends on the matchup, but generally speaking I start with Panther Claws. Against Ultron it's Energy Daggers.
