Hey...so I have a blog now, Caught Off Guard. My first post features this deck. You can check that out if you want, then come back for the deck!
The days of eye rolls and groans every time D E A D P O O L hits the table are finally over! With this deck, you will be protecting the team without relying on taking acceleration tokens. Or at least not toooo many. How's that? Health tanking, baby!
That basic Recovery of 8 is CRAZY. But generally, we've all ended up using it in one specific way. To recover after spending all of your health on a Maximum Effort, only to play another one to wreck your HP as soon as you flip up!
Not today. This time, we are going to be using his powers of recovery as the marvel gods intended: To get pummeled over and over by undefended villain attacks!
First thing's first. Deadpool is gonna see the Shrink. He gets the most value from Dr. Sinclair of any hero in the game. Trading a for 8 health is spectacular! But we can bump that up. Down Time brings it to 10, and with Symbiote Suit up to 11! Yep, recovery counts as a basic power here. We've also got Chimichanga Truck, we can essentially recover 3 times in a turn. Deadpool can recover 33 health by spending 1 single .
Okay, sure. We don't have anywhere near that much health to begin with. But lets see how close we can reach. Between Front Line Specialist, Endurance, X-Force Recruit, and Symbiote Suit we can get him to 27 max health.
There's the set up. Here's how to face tan...I mean health tank. It's pretty easy. Don't block any attacks coming at you. Defend for teammates. Flip and heal. Rinse and repeat. This isn't a "defend for the whole table every time" kind of deck. We don't have the cards that let us do that. But we've got Colossus and Luke Cage to help protect your friends. Ready for a Fight lets your buddies flip down to alter ego safely without putting threat on the main scheme! Anyone at the table can utilize Chimichanga Truck, The Night Nurse, and X-Mansion to heal too.
Energy Barrier and Energy Shield can help keep you alive if you ever end up with low health in alter ego. The second Energy Shield can go right on our buddy Cable.
Between Dr. Sinclair, Ready for a Fight, and Energy Shield, we need all 3 resources. Sometimes having the right ones can be tough. That's why Quincarrier is here. Build Support is how you get it into play.
Why is Hope here????
Beats me. Cable brought her along. There's not even any superpowers for her...feel free to swap her with whatever you like :)
Did FFG take the idea of Deadpool literally using his health bar as a weapon from Marvel v. Capcom?
That's it! Pretty simple deck that lets you play Deadpool in a very unique (and honestly pretty intuitive) way. Let me know if you play this deck, or maybe make a health tanking deck for another hero!

May 16, 2025I don’t love Wade but this is really clever and I will try this! |
May 16, 2025Great idea and execution. I feel like I’m still missing something regarding Hope though |
May 16, 2025I really like this idea for deadpool. I tried a similar thing a while ago where I used energy barriers to protect him in alter ego and I've done the increased recovery build, but never together! It's a wonderful combo. Great deck :) |

Love it! Really smart use of Dr. Sinclair to enable a face tanking deck! I think there are some cool sideboard options that people could insider depending on how aggressive they want to go. Cheating out Quinccarrier will be very helpful in paying for resource requirements.
