Psylocke has been one of my top five favorite heroes ever since she released. I really liked the versatility in her kit and especially like the resource generator weapons she has, and have found the reduced hand size a fair trade-off.

Now that we have all the mutant tools, I revisited my old Uncanny X-Force deck with her and made some tweaks to see if I could get value out of Mutant Mayhem and Uncanny X-Force. This is the result, and I've found it to be very fun and powerful.

Uncanny X-Force I feel often gets overlooked for it's cousin, Uncanny X-Men. I can see why, since the cost savings is pretty insane. However, I would argue Uncanny X-Force can be the better support in certain heroes, and is absolutely the better choice in any Children of the Atom decks making use of a mixed roster. This is because the discount you get from Uncanny X-Men doesn't work with X-Force allies in Children of the Atom, so all you're really getting, if you lean into a mixed roster, is +1 HP. However, with Uncanny X-Force, if you thwart at least one side scheme, you are effectively getting +1 HP, and even more if you thwart more side schemes. On top of that, you get +1 thwart regardless of if you thwart the main or a side scheme, which can be super powerful.

Psychic Kicker really helps even out ally activations, and helps "math out" what you need in order to defeat a side scheme. Mental Detection can also help, because it can convert into 1/3/5 thwart and some card draw, which is super flexible.

The ally roster was selected due to taste, and nearly all of them have an awesome Enters Play effect for Mutant Mayhem. We have a couple X-Force traited heroes in case it takes some time to see Children of the Atom, with Marrow and Domino. Domino also helps with deck cycling, in case we have a villain phase card we don't want to hold onto.

The goal is to get Children of the Atom down, and even hard-mulligan for it. Luckily, Psylocke's upgrades are more nice-to-have so seeing them go isn't so bad. Most of the Mutant Mayhem synergy is probably obvious, but there are some cool ones I discovered:

  • Professor X can finally ready us! You probably won't need him to confuse as much. And with Mutant Mayhem he can ready you twice! Psylocke's basic will be a lot of our damage output so his ready I've found to be the most valuable.
  • M is actually a pretty potent minion manager with Mutant Mayhem
  • Gambit low-key can just get rid of unwanted encounter cards if played with Mutant Mayhem
  • Cyclops is probably the most obvious, get that damage up! Bonus points if it's on a turn you could mayhem him and Professor X a few times to get your readies on.
  • Mirage has a THW of 3, so we can stun the villain a bit more easily.

Let me know if you find any others!

There are some omissions here some might balk at, and feel free to swap some in, but here's what I found:

  • Beak isn't really needed with all the extra thwarting
  • Phoenix I've had trouble getting readies off of, so she's gone
  • Hope Summers is out because we don't have any superpowers

Some I wouldn't mind swapping in for

  • Pixie is a non-bo with X-Force so I didn't include her, but she could still be great to fetch X-Men.
  • X-23 isn't a bad inclusion, especially when Cyclops is juicing her ATK
  • Deadpool is always a good all-arounder, but he wasn't getting me anything for When Played.
  • Shadowcat is good with Mutant Mayhem but situational

There are probably others, and maybe more ideal allies to include, but I've found good success with this group. and a lot of fun as well!
