Valkyrie was already top tier. The additional cards from the Iceman pack have now made her god tier. This deck is all about unleashing divine wrath on enemies with upgrades attached and maximizing the synergy between her Death-Glow and the new agression cards.
Deck Concept
A big concern with agression decks is survivability. Fortunately, this deck has no problems with that. With Endurance and Aragorn in play, Valk's max HP jumps from 12 to 19, allowing her to take quite the punishing. If that's not enough, with Valhalla in play and Death-Glow and Suppressing Fire attached to a minion, when the minion is defeated, Valkyrie heals 2 HP from Suppressing Fire, exhausts Valhalla to heal 1 HP and draw a card, readies up thanks to Death-Glow, and if Down Time is in play, Valkyrie can flip to alter-ego and play Recuperation to heal 6 HP, and exaust to recover another 6 HP, healing for a total of 15 HP. That's some serious staying power!
How to Play
Early Game
In the early game, you’ll be setting up Valkyrie’s suite of upgrades and supports. Your primary focus should be:
- Playing Helicarrier, Quincarrier, and Down Time to establish a strong resource and recovery base. This sets you up for more aggressive plays in the mid and late game.
- Use Chooser of the Slain and Looking for Trouble to bring minions into play, which not only fuels your Death-Glow but sets up for cards like Surprise Move and Shark-Girl.
- Dragonfang to allow you to dish out even more damage.
- Geting Hall of Heroes as early into the game as possible to capitalize on the numerous minions you defeat to keep a steady supply of cards coming.
- Putting Aragorn and Endurance into play sooner rather than later to allow Valkyrie to take a lot of damage before having to flip to alter ego.
Mid Game and Late Game
By the mid game, you should have Valkyrie’s core upgrades in play and be ready to start laying waste to enemies. Here’s where you get aggressive:
- Attach Death-Glow and Suppressing Fire to control the board. These cards synergize really well with Chooser of the Slain, Looking for Trouble and Angela, which give you a steady flow of minions to allow you to heal while keeping the pressure on.
- Cards like Have at Thee!, Surprise Move and Dragonfang will turn Valkyrie into a human wrecking ball against enemies with Death-Glow and Suppressing Fire attached, and Shark-Girl will also benefit from the minion upgrades.
- Use Hall of Heroes and Valhalla to keep refilling your hand with cards and resources after defeating minions, which helps maintain tempo while you clear threats.
- Deploying allies like Jane Foster Thor, Odinson Thor and Bug gives you some extra muscle and control over the battlefield, while Flight of the Valkyrior helps clear threat from the main scheme with each minion takedown.
Conclusion
By focusing on early setup and sustained attacks, Valkyrie becomes an indomitable force on the battlefield, swinging with powerful attacks and maintaining control over the minions with attachments. This deck ensures that Valkyrie not only hits hard but also sticks around to finish the fight.
