Magnetic Circuit
Every circuit needs a conductor.
With the help of our special guest, Magneto will be able to complete his circuit.
Magneto provides the energy through his magnetic events. Cable keeps the system stable.
The idea behind this deck is simple: build a permanent board state that gradually reduces the deck's effective size. Between Magneto's equipment, mutant supports, and the upgrades attached to Cable, fewer cards remain in circulation and the odds of seeing Magneto's strongest events increase with every pass through the deck.
The mulligan priority is finding Moira MacTaggert and Children of the Atom. These two cards start the engine that unlocks IPAC, Uncanny X-Force, and the rest of the X-Men package built into the deck.
Cable is not the win condition. His job is to stabilize the game. With Danger Room Training, Sidekick, and Uncanny X-Force, he handles threat, defeats minions, and remains on the table for most of the game. While Cable keeps the board under control, Magneto is free to build his economy, recycle key cards, and prepare for a devastating finish.
One of the most unusual choices in the deck is running Digging Deep instead of the traditional double resources. Magneto constantly discards cards from the top of his deck. When a double resource is discarded this way, it is usually lost. When Digging Deep is discarded, it goes directly to your hand.
Weapon X follows a similar philosophy. Magneto's alter-ego ability lets him shuffle up to four cards from his discard pile back into his deck, and Weapon X accelerates that process by increasing how quickly the deck is cycled. Together, these cards help ensure that key events return far more often than they normally would.
The real goal is to repeatedly see cards like Electromagnetic Blast, Magnetic Missile, and Metal Shards. The more permanent cards remain in play, the more frequently these events appear.
The game usually ends the same way: Magneto fully assembled, Cable stabilizing the board, and one or more copies of Side-by-Side turning all that accumulated advantage into explosive final turns capable of ending the game immediately.
Cable does not win the game.
Cable creates the conditions that allow Magneto to win it.
Nice team up
