You don't take damage, and Boomguy doesn't take damage, and you don't take damage...
There are only few heroes in the game who can realiably protect the entire table. Falcon is one of them and luckily, he is even fun playing in this style!
In this series of Falcon decks I try to focus on things he can do with his kit that other heroes cannot. For protection, the distinctive cards are Aerial Evacuation and Draw Their Fire which are both amazing. This deck provides you with a few additional tools to achieve the goal: protecting the whole table, again and again.
Game Plan
The goal is to get both preparations and your def-boosting upgrades in play as fast as possible:
- Aerial Evacuation just straight up prevents a character taking damage, always useful to return to your hand with Practiced Plan
- Draw Their Fire lets you defend every attack, be it the original attacks or additional ones through encounter cards. With a defense value of 5, this is amazing. The card is expensive especially with four players, but man, it feels so good if everyone can relax during the villain phase!
- Vibranium Microweave, Armored Vest and Defensive Conditioning get your defense value up to 5 with one energy barrier built in. With Battlefield Awareness, you can even boost your defense value up to 6 or 7, but don't expect it to hit a good value every turn. This deck does not focus on encounter deck manipulation.
- In addition, three events help you defend your friends:
- "I Can Do This All Day" is a great card that lets you defend without exhausting, for turns where you can't trigger Draw Their Fire.
- Preemptive Strike can be played when another player is attacked, cancelling all boost icons and drawing the attack to you. Do not hesitate to take damage, you have up to 13 hit points and Crew Quarters helps you heal fast if you go to alter ego with Aerial Evacuation.
- Stronger Together is one of my favorite new cards, and it fits great with Falcon and his high defense stat. For a cost of 0, you can reduce the incoming damage another character would take by 5 (once you are fully built). You can protect all Avengers and aerial characters. If you share the table with non-Avengers, use one of the Honorary Avenger titles to make them part of your team so Stronger Together can trigger for everyone.
Additional thoughts
I have thought about adding cards that help the game state when defending, such as "Stop Hitting Yourself", Counter-Punch, or Hard to Ignore. But utimately, I didn't want to exceed 40 cards and keep the focus of this deck: protecting your whole table.
Author's notes
Why the title? I often listen to Boomguy's podcast "Winning Hand" (https://www.youtube.com/@WinningHandPodcast) and really enjoy it. In the last few episodes, Boomguy has repeatedly stated that he doesn't enjoy playing Falcon and has encouraged his listeners to send him decks to change his mind. As I really like Falcon, I had to try! :D Seriously, the podcast is very good, give it a listen!

I love a good Falcon Deck! I think he's completely underrated in this game. I like to add Soaring Acrobatics with him a lot since it works with both falcon & Redwing well.
