Gamora has two great economy features that don’t see use in most decks, so this deck tries to benefit from both the Conditioning Room and free cards from her Skilled Tactician ability when in Alter Ego.

I found this to be a very very powerful deck that was able to survive Galaxy’s Most Wanted with Venom as the other player. We used the Expert deck cards, Standard III, and started the villains on stage II. Though we didn’t play the campaign set-up expert rules because that really was hopeless!

First things first: Gamora wants to use thwart events and attack events. Her kit gives her bonuses for playing them and generates resources to afford them.

So let’s not fight that; we want to make that happen nearly every turn. So 10 hero thwarts and 13 hero attacks make that statistically likely during the hero phase.

Note that her bonuses apply each phase, so Crosscounter can also be used (during the villain phase) for Gamora’s bonuses. But it isn’t always playable on account of being in Alter-Ego.

Since we’re running Concussive Blow, we add in Upside the Head to further lock up the villain with more Confuse statuses and Stuns.

There are no added allies and very few upgrades, and cards have a pretty low cost profile. So Gamora comes out swinging and never takes much of a tempo hit. This is fun for anyone, but especially good for playing at expert difficulty level.

One other neat feature here is the passive healing from Crew Quarters on top of Conditioning Room. So every time Gamora dips into AE she recovers 4 hit points without exhausting!

Any time that you have Conditioning Room on the table and the main scheme managed be sure to flip to alter-ego for the free event card draw. And a chance at a free card from Tactical Genius. It will also make use of the villain’s confused status, which prevents any nasty boost effects from triggering that turn.

Alternative Card Ideas

True Grit didn’t work out in my games, but if you spend less time in alter ego you might be able to make it work.

Drax is amazing value, but none of your economy cards can pay for him. If no other hero on your team is a Guardian you might consider making room for him.

There’s lots of cards that deal with confused that don’t make the cut. "Think Fast!" can’t be paid for with (or benefit from) Gamora’s kit. Float Like a Butterfly is too much tempo hit for the benefit. And Scare Tactic requires a confused enemy, so it’s not useful on the minions swat down for most of a scenario.

Have fun with this, it really churns out tons of damage for a Justice aspect deck!
