Here's my offering for boomguy's Winning Hand challenge to build a deck that includes Joining Forces.

Episode 69 - Joining Forces

spotify / youtube

Since these Avenger/Guardian Alliance cards work best at Multiplayer, I've created 4 decks that support one another with synergistic team-ups, hence the title Combined Arms Formation (the designation given to military units comprised of multiple different types of forces working in concert). The other parts of the formation can be found here:

Combined Arms Formation - Air Support (Star-Lord)

Combined Arms Formation - Infantry (Rogue)

Combined Arms Formation - Armor (Captain America)

How This Deck Works

Bishop's deck gets the title of "Logisitcs" because he's here to make sure everyone else has what they need (this deck doesn't include Global Logistics). Like most good Bishop decks, you include a lot of resource cards, and take many hits to draw those resources, heal up with Bishop's Uniform, shoot back with Bishop's Rifle and enjoy your riches.

It's that last part, "enjoying your riches", that's most difficult in solo. Solo decks often include Lockjaw and Machine Man other resource sinks so that he can get value out of his resources. For a couple years now, I've been enamored with the idea of using Alliance Cards in other player's hands as that resource sink, and it works really well in this Combined Arms Formation

Team-Ups

  • Joining Forces is the main one. You can probably afford it, and cheat allies in all around the table. All 4 decks are heavy with Avengers and Guardians so this rarely whiffs.
  • Star Lord is running three copies of Problem Solvers, which can be an awesome swing play that you should help pay for when you can.
  • Black Panther can Grab wither Joining Forces or Make the Call, both are very flexible.
  • Make the Call and Med Lab can let you buy allies that other players aren't currently using.
  • Rogue can put Touched on one of your Leadership allies to grab Joining Forces into her hand, which you can then help pay for. Allies all around again!
  • Resource Reserve is another way that Bishop can subsidize the table.
  • Ouside of his own deck, The Power of Flight can pay for Starhawk, Quasar, and (I don't recommend this) Nova Prime if they're in their owner's discard piles.
  • Because Star Lord has Problem Solvers and Even the Odds, try to get Call for Backup down early if you can. Because Star Lord removes from EVERY scheme or side-scheme with his events, the player side-schemes are often free cash money.

And that's the deck! And that's how it works! If you have any thoughts or changes, or things that should be cut or included, let me know in the comments! Hope to see some of you at Gen-Con '25 to beat up on Loki/Enchantress for the first time!
