Phoenix and Storm are a classic duo. You may be familiar with DR00's deck Jean and Ororo Skip Class to Sing Karaoke at the Moulin Roug , or more recently SDx's deck Soul Queens are here to slay.

Divine Mercy further iterates on those ideas with a few of the justice cards that came out with the Black Panther pack, putting an entirely new and unique spin on this pair. Lets go over that now.

Holy Cardboard

First, we have Manifold. There is a strategy with Storm of dumping threat onto a player side scheme, and then just replacing it with a different side scheme. Manifold just makes that so much easier.

We also got Show of Empathy. This one is really cool since Storm adding more threat to it actually lets you take control of a stronger minion than was possible before, like Tombstone with his 3atk and 9hp! Also, this scheme never needs to be fully cleared. You can dump 20 threat onto it, but it always goes to the victory as soon as you trigger the Forced Interrupt. So you don't even need to override this one with another scheme.

The last new card here is Infiltration, and this one really pulls everything together. 5 thwart for 2 ER is stellar value, and we actually want to find minions in this deck. No.. not minions. disciples. And most importantly, Infiltration lets us choose which one to put into play, which makes finding the perfect disciple easier than ever before.

Ask and You Shall Receive

Yes, we have 2 cards in this deck that can take control of...or redeem, minions: Mind Control and Show of Empathy. Praise be to our mutant Saviors, as they are merciful!

Redemption for our minions ultimately comes in one of these two forms, but their path towards salvation is infinitely variable. Let me explain:

• You can use Chance Encounter, which draws Manifold, which draws Show of Empathy, which lets you play Redemption.

• Or you can use Chance Encounter, which draws Manifold, which draws Superpower Training, which lets you play Mind Control.

As you can see, having the right cards when a perfect minion appears is not an issue. You can use Infiltration on Superpower Training, getting it low but not cleared (in 2 player, 5 thwart gets it down perfectly to 1 threat), and then decide if you want to clear it based on which minion Infiltration gave you.

A Worthy Disciple

This deck is still very strong even if there are no minions. It thwarts so much, and can push damage very well when unleashed. But we are here to change hearts and minds, forge new alliances, recruit new cult memb.... I mean disciples. Whomsoever amongst the encounter deck receives your blessing aught to be truly worthy.

Ensuring that you have worthy disciples doesn't mean that you have to limit your villain choices. The easiest way to do this is by just picking an appropriate mod set. What you are looking for is non-elite (very important!) minions with at least 2 atk/thw, and at least 5 hit points. Here are some of the better options: Masters of Evil, Running Interference, Mutant Insurrection, Inheritors, and Sentinels.

Divine Judgement

Your Redeemed allies can become your Avatar, and then receive your Blessing. The final Blessing is for Storm. With these blessings, they are all great targets for Game Time.
