Wednesday I got my Iceman pack. My first thought when I saw his ability was to build a Protection deck with lots of readying effects, to maximize the use of it.
It was a disaster. With just a 1 in Thwart, two allies which can't thwart, and just 3 thwart events, I was strugling a lot with side schemes, and trying to clear even the main one was painful. I had to do a lot of suboptimal basic thwarts just to clear side schemes, losing potencial activations of freeze, and so, letting the villain hit me with full potential, impeding me to activate some of the "no-damage-effects".
That's why I decided to try it in Justice. Well, even the name seems made for it, so... this is Just Ice Man (or Justice Man).
The main goal of the deck is to use as many times as possible our "Freeze" interruption. In order to do so, we can ready up to three times a turn, thanks to Justice Served, Utopia, and Cryokinetic Perception.
I've chosen all the neutral X-men allies because all are cheap, so almost all of them can be payed with just one The Power in All of Us. I prefer economy over efficiency here, as the main goal in playing the allies is to ready Iceman with Utopia. Also, is not painful to use them as meatshields.
The remaing cards are just Twhart events (3x Clear the Area, and 3x For Justice!). I considered Impede instead of for justice, but I found it's restriction to just main scheme so much problematic for scenarios with many side schemes.
Great deck name. I have struggled with thwarting with Iceman on a few of my games as well. I will definitely try this one out.
