We finally made it to the forty third and FINAL in a series of decks I built directly influenced by the amazing Get Up and Game! Perfect Match-Up series found here: https://youtu.be/1I2q3sT6FoA Please check out the channel and the video since I thought it was an amazing gift to the community and it inspired me to start playing Champions more regularly.

My goal with this series was to create a unique deck inspired by each challenge match-up in the video using all the suggested cards plus some of my own to create a deck that any player can use to check out the challenge. If you’re missing some cards from a deck please ask in the comments and I’ll do my best to find replacements from your collection so that you can have fun too! Hopefully I can build a deck that can beat the villain on both standard and expert. I’ll try to document any tweaks I made while playing the deck too.

So it comes down to this. RONAN. Fear by most of the champions community. Written off as unplayable by some. To be perfectly honest with you I've always been a big fan of Ronan. I love how much pressure he puts on you as a player. I love losing ten games in a row before finally getting that last minute win. I think every game needs at least one scenario like this. You dont want to play it every day but every once in a while its fun to butt your head up against him. I say all this to explain that I'm no stranger to Expert Ronan and I've built several decks that have conquered the challenge. The thing is... all of those decks had a specific strategy: HIT RONAN AS HARD AND AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. Basically ignore everything around him and roll out big damage numbers so you can win in a couple of rounds before you die. This was my first time every playing Spider-Ham and I have to say... Ronan has finally met his match! I've never seen a hero who was able to control Ronan in solo. I actually felt like I had the upper hand and he was a bit worried about me! Also being able to smash his face in using a Huge Wooden Hammer was incredibly satisfying. I was able to beat this scenario once on Standard and twice on Expert with no losses! (although the second Expert game was a very close one!)

So how does it work? Well the main quality Spider-Ham has going for him is incredible resource generation. This allows him to keep up with Ronan's many surging cards and sometimes even over take him! Even Ronan's first punishment, taking two damage and an encounter card, is mitigated by gaining a wild resource for your trouble.

There's a couple cards you want to find early. Web of Life and Destiny is core to your deck. You can have all the resources you want but you have to have cards to play. To that end you also have Petulant Pig which can be a bit risky but will definitely give you the upper hand. If you're worried about your health, Cartoon Physics can shrug off even Ronan's strongest attacks! So yes, you'll be generating plenty of resources but what if you want more?? Thats where Clarity of Purpose comes in both generating a wild resource AND giving you a toon counter. And finally, maybe the best use of Team-Building Exercise in the game! All of Spider-Ham's cards are toon trait! Honestly I should have put a second copy of this in the deck in hindsight but I won all three games without it so I think it was ok!

So what are we going to use all these resources for? Web-warriors! You're going to constantly be popping Web-warriors in and out of play and then drawing more cards and using Rapid Response, and Make the Call and Across the Spider-Verse to grab them back and send them out again with Go Down Swinging. They will get you benefits as they leave too! The true star of the show is Hobie Brown. You will get incredible damage out of him every time he leaves play and he can also toss Ronan's hammer! On top of all this if you attack Warrior of the Great Web to Spider-Ham with his Huge Wooden Hammer, his one ATK is going to ballon to incredible sizes! Then you can use Organic Webbing to let him smack everyone around.

You do need to keep an eye on Spider-Ham's health. To that end you can use Swinging Web Pig to confuse Ronan and then flip down to use your 5 recovery and gain more toon counters!

Let me tell you how I won my last game against Ronan. Ronan advanced to his final phase on Expert where he gains retaliate. Hobie Brown attacked and removed his tough. I used Command Team to ready Hobie and attack again. Hobie was knocked out by the consequential damage plus retaliate, discarding 3 cards and dealing all the boost icons to Ronan as damage. I got to draw a card for him leaving play. Then I triggered Rapid Response to bring him back with a damage on him! I played my second copy of Rapid Response. Then he attacked Ronan and took the retaliate damage and the consequential damage and was knocked out of play again causing me to draw another card, discard 3 more cards from Ronan dealing additional damage to him and then AGAIN being Rapid Response back into the game with a damage on him so I could do this a third time! Then I used all the cards I drew to play Swinging Web Pig. After all that, Spider-Ham attacked with 7 ATK from his Huge Wooden Hammer boosted by Warrior of the Great Web to finish the game!

This final match-up really ended this whole series on an absolute high! Thanks so much for trying out any of the decks in this series! Please please like the decks if you try them out as it encourages me to keep building and sharing decks with the community.
