cyclops

(Unlike the way the meme is usually used, Adam is actually pretty good!)

If you like this deck, feel free to give it a ❤ ! Thank you!

Cyclops can have any X-Men ally he likes. You know who else can do that? Adam freakin' Warlock.

And while it's hardly Tactical Brillance, Quantum Magic can also search for Game Time - and since Game Time is so good, it's still a very efficient play!

But Adam has his own advantages.

Adam is the only hero who can also have each of the Training upgrades in one deck. And since Danger Room can be used by a non-Mutant (if they're the one who plays it under their own control), now Adam can put any upgrade on any X-Men ally he likes!

Like Danger Room, X-Mansion can also be played and used by a non-Mutant. And Adam also comes with ally healing from his Battle Mage hero form ability. And has access to Med Team. Which is all a long way of saying he can keep his upgraded X-Men very healthy.

Adam Warlock can also run Boot Camp with all this for major damage!

Perhaps best of all, after playing 2x Mystic Senses and The Sorcerer Supreme, Adam can do all this while effectively having a hand size of 8! (You have to discard a card to trigger the card draw from Mystic Senses via Battle Mage, but you get roughly a card's worth of effect!)

Needless to say, the values of the X-Men with Training upgrades, Boot Camp, and healing gets crazy!

Mulligan Priorities:

You are searching for these cards, and should almost certainly ditch all of your initial cards if none of the following are among them:

Alternative Cards:

  • The Psylocke ally will be an auto-include when Wolverine's pack releases. Add her ASAP!
  • Utopia is worth considering over The Triskelion in multiplayer with an X-Men hero. (Due to the amount of health and healing you can give allies, it's somewhat common to hit the ally limit without either.)
  • Team Training is also worth considering in multiplayer if Beast is taken by someone else or you need a replacement for The Triskelion.
  • Summoning Spell is amazing with the X-Men, BUT doesn't synergise with Danger Room. With that said, it's still a great inclusion if you want to expand your deck over the 40-card minimum, which has the advantage of making Karmic Blast and Cosmic Awareness more likely to hit harder (but disadvantage of making it slower to find your best upgrades/supports)

Good luck and have fun!

Nice idea here! Brilliant again as usual.

(I always include Symbiote Suit with Adam Warlock just for the chance to do a 20 heal Soul World, so I will need a 41st card)

Thank you so much! You're too kind @teamcanadahockey2002!

I do like Symbiote Suit for Adam, it's in my previous deck I posted for him (https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/22537/the-seeker) but focusing on allies and upgrading them is already a little slow pace - it didn't feel like I could afford the big 4-cost drop on Symb. Suit and the risk it entails.

But if you can afford to play it, it's surely excellent. Good luck if you try it with this build :D

@VillainTheory Sym. Suit is SUCH a pace issue. I dont think it helps win games really, but its just so fun when you can get that full Soul World heal :)

An Adam Warlock deck that I think I'll enjoy playing! Sounds great. Can't wait to give it a go :) Cheers for the idea.

How do you use X-Mansion and Utopia not having Mutant in Warlock´s alter ego?

Oct 20, 2022 VillainTheory · 27848

@Polak Neither X-Mansion or Danger Room require you to be a Mutant -if- you are the one who controls it in your own play area. You can use it like normal. =)

We have a ruling on it which can be viewed here, number 43: hallofheroeslcg.com

@VillainTheory I dont see in that answer a clear statement about the trait of the controller. If i take litearaly the text in the card, the alter ego action is only for mutants, controller of the card, or not.

Oct 20, 2022 VillainTheory · 27848

@Polak Upgrades and supports don't tell you that the person who played them can use them. If you have played it, you can use it. These two simply specify at the very end that any player with the Mutant trait can use them as well. It's allowing other people to use them who normally can't use them.

It's giving permission, not adding on a restriction!

I am with Polak on this one, the response from FFG does not say at any point that you can use it if you are not a mutant. The card seems pretty clear that only mutants can use it.

@bethe Cover up the last sentence on both and read the card. Now, uncover that sentence and read it again. It appears to be intended to be used by other players if they are mutants to mitigate it being AE only. Compare it to any of the cards that restrict WHO can play them.

Just played a few rounds with this deck. I had a little bit of struggles getting into the X-men part of this deck as I prioritized getting all of the Warlock upgrades down in the first pass thru the deck. 2nd time thru the deck I eventually get 2 Allies down.

I'm curious if this deck plays better by ignoring Adams usual setup routine, skipping the mystic sense, cape, staff in favor of danger room, boot camp, xmansion?

Fortunately I was playing teamed up with a Justice Ironheart with some turbo draw deck, and her allies were generally able to take a lot of the heat (Go for Champions!) while Warlock set up. But I never really felt this deck click.

The first 4 games were vs Loki who kept stun/confuse locking Ironheart and dumping Adams upgrades/supports. Very annoying matchup. After finally pulling out a victory (swapped in Night Nurse instead of Med Team), I took a swing at Venom. Warlock felt a lot better in this matchup but still wasn't until the last 1/4 of the game that I was able to get any of the X-Men leadership going. Got Wolverine down just in time though as Venom clobbered Ironheart with a surprise overkill 7 damage boost. Wolverine took a swing and a Karmic Blast finished the job.

This was a really fun deck in three-player Standard. We played through a modded version of the GMW campaign and I had a good time. It's definitely a slower deck, since it requires a lot of build-up to really get going. But even when the engine was fully revved, it didn't feel ultra-mega overpowered. It was nice getting to play a Sorcerer who didn't feel one-note, auto-pilot, or broken. Thanks for this!
