1st-Turn Iron Man with Call for Aid into Shoulder Cannon -- smells like napalm in the morning!
Theme:
-
The purpose of this deck is to use Call for Aid to tutor Iron Man (he's the only Avenger in the deck), thus getting your Shoulder Cannon up and running along with the rest of his kit as quickly as possible.
-
I like that it's also thematic as he teams up with his buddy, Iron Man (who ironically is on the art for Call for Aid). Use Iron Man's 'enter play' ability with Rapid Response and through tutoring to build your kit ASAP.
Call for Aid = Iron Man:
-
You essentially have Iron Man x4 and with Call for Aid you will automatically tutor him every time because he's the only Avenger in the deck.
-
That means with this deck you'll usually get first turn Iron Man -- and Two Against the World Turn 1 or Turn 2 more often than you'd think.
-
Of course when you get Iron Man you'll tutor Shoulder Cannon.
-
You'll also thin your deck and put Munitions Bunker and War Machine’s other cards back into a thinned deck so you'll draw them within a few turns.
-
If Iron Man dies, you can easily get him back in again with Rapid Response or by tutoring with Call for Aid after you put him back in your deck with your alter-ego ability. This way you can lay down your War Machine upgrades as quickly as possible.
-
This deck takes a few games to get how it works and it's pretty aggressive, but I've had a lot of fun with it!
Leadership?
- We've seen a lot of good War Machine deck options, but I haven't seen a Leadership aspect deck yet, so I thought I would share since it has a unique idea. I've cleared several campaigns with it now (in solo on Expert, something that War Machine has trouble with), so it is viable, and lots of fun.
Hope you have as much fun with this deck as I do! My latest decks:

Nov 15, 2021Oops...not Call for Aid, meant Make the Call* to bring back allies for blocking and thwarting obviously. |
Nov 15, 2021I've not played him so maybe a dumb question, but why Shoulder Cannon first? |

Basically, it gives you a way to use WMs ammo efficiently and completely, and getting it out as early as possible ensures that you can do that as soon as possible, for the entire game. |
Nov 15, 2021Also, I wanted to say that I love the idea behind this deck. Shoulder Cannon aside, using infinite Iron Men to keep getting you your tech pieces is a fantastic (and hilarious) way to get set up surprisingly quickly. I kinda wish that Leadership had some big, stupid, disposable Tech upgrade like Sonic Rifle that I could jam into this deck so that Two Against The World wouldn't be so uneventful once you have all the armor set up, but whatcha going to do =P |

Nov 16, 2021I've gone back and played with some more game against a variety of bosses but I keep getting overwhelmed about the time I need to flip to alter ego to heal and reload. Its probably that I'm just spoiled from playing your Warlock deck and being able to stun or confuse at will, lol. |

Nov 16, 2021I would definitely watch a stream with high quality play/deck analysis! Played my first games of War Machine, and getting set up took awhile. This deck makes a lot of sense to speed that up and get to the good stuff! |

Nov 26, 2021I love this deck! Thank you for sharing. I did end up hitting a wall with Heroic Klaw, though. After 9 attempts, I could just never get ahead of the ridiculous Encounter card curve, thanks to so many cards in Klaw's base set up that Surge or effectively put additional Encounter cards into play. So, I skipped him and moved on to Ultron and all is going smoothly thus far. |

Jan 09, 2022Just ran this deck with minor changes though Mad Titan's and had a blast. I love that this deck is thematic and has a firm concept. Good that Call for Aid got a pic of Iron Man. What a giveaway.Really fun. |

Jan 17, 2022I feel like I'm missing something about War Machine. I've tried this deck (and others) a few times. Even though I've gotten Iron Man and Shoulder Cannon out in the first hand, I get stomped from there on. I'd love a play through for this deck or just War Machine in general. |
Apr 09, 2022Definitely need to update this deck now that Agent 13 is out, and maybe finally do that video for this one. |
May 19, 2022That would be great, War Machine and this deck are one of my faves |

I wouldn't mind a write up. I've tried this deck against a few different villains but only had any success against Rhino who I felt safe flipping to alter ego. Super easy to get Iron man and either Bunker or Cannon out quick but past that I struggle. Should I just be trying to switch over to recurring Fury after mid game?
