This deck is designed to demonstrate what Tony can now do with the new Plasma Pistol from Agent Venom's pack. The card mostly sucks, functioning as a slow Haymaker, but it does have two very important features:

  • The Tech keyword
  • Basic card aspect

You can think of Iron Man's Plasma Pistol as a restricted-rather-than-unique The Sorcerer Supreme that also deals two damage! Quickly scaling Iron Man's hand size to useable levels has never been easier!

Tempting as it is to maximise the tech weapon theme with Side Holster and Hand Cannon or Sonic Rifle, that approach is still capped by the restricted keyword. Some tech cards already exist that do not have this problem!

Protection now offers the overall best suite of Tech upgrades, between Plasma Pistol, Electrostatic Armor, and the non-restricted Energy Barrier, that supplement Tony's own armour to quickly achieve maximum Iron Man. Also note that every single one of these cards has an energy resource to feed Repulsor Blast spam!

While aggression Stark can do decent things with Arc Reactor, thanks to supporting cards like Bug and Combat Training, protection Stark doesn't even need it thanks to Ever Vigilant, one of the best cards in the game. It lets him focus on threat removal, a more natural fit for Tony, then rely on massive attack events for damage.

First Hit was mostly chosen as another good card with an energy resource, but equally the slots could be used for Med Team, Preemptive Strike, or even Momentum Shift.

Throw in some allies to tank hits and some economy staples to taste, and you have Plasma Pistol Iron Man!
