Notes by Leo's dad
This is the second deck Leo (7 years old) built. He was talking about how he wanted more and harder villains, so we went up against Klaw II/III (we had only done I/IIs before) with Doomsday Chair and Expert sets mixed in. It was a lot harder than Leo was used to! I was playing the Wasp precon deck, which was better than I expected.
Leo really took to the idea of putting down preparation cards to be used later, though of course he missed a bunch of triggers, but got better as the game went on. As far as the deck goes, ironically for a Justice deck it did less threat removal than the Wasp Aggression deck, there's not a lot event-wise in here for that. Two cards I was skeptical about, Under Surveillance and Foiled! did clutch work, though there was plenty (Including Foiled!, let's be honest) that could be taken out to make room for some Clear the Areas. By the time he had his Beat Cops and Surveillance Teams set up, we had multiple acceleration tokens out, and twice Masterplan came up while The "Immortal" Klaw and The Doomsday Chair schemes were out, so at the end we were getting a regular 8 threat added at the beginning of every Villain Phase. Kind of a grindy loss, but it was fun to see him make some reassessments of cards as we went on, e.g., Counterintelligence was unexpectedly great, Lay Down the Law was surprisingly limited.
Next time will probably be using the precon Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch packs.
