Oh, boy. We’ve got a live one. Cable was already one of the strongest heroes in the game. But now, thanks to some new cards, he’s one of the even more strongest heroes in the game.
First up is Strategy Session which lets us both look for Player Side Schemes and thwart them efficiently. That’s right, we’re speedrunning this thing. With a Strategy Session in hand it is now viable to pick Technovirus Purge as our starting PSS, though it might not always be correct. Strategy Session clears most PSSs on its own, which means we can use Cable’s activation on something else, Graymalkin the Strategy Session, then ready them both for mega-ultra-hyper-techno-efficiency.
Next, we want Alter-ego access, so I included Entrapment. Along with Bodyslide, we’ve got decent opportunities to go down for Professor, Strategy Session fetching, and recovery. Sonic Rifle is our backup plan as well as a second target for Lock and Load. Psychic Manipulation is a wildcard pick, meant to double-whammy the villain along with Entrapment, but it’s expensive and hasn’t paid off as much as I’d hoped.
Cloak and Dagger are great value here. Graymalkin works with them and they’re a good resource sink for Strategy Session once we’ve run through our PSSs. Keep an eye out for a good minion to redeem with Show of Empathy (which, unfortunately, doesn’t interact well with the rest of our kit), and you can also keep Nick Fury and Professor X rotating with Chance Encounter.
I know this sucker is a bit thick, but half the cards are upgrades or PSSs and two of the allies will stay in play all game. There is definitely room for trimming (start with Psychic Manipulation), but I don’t feel the need.
Yeah. Cable. Turns out he’s just a really, really strong hero, and making it easier for him to get stronger is a good time.
