Alright. We’ll all admit it. Angel in Aggression is very strong. This is my first attempt at making a deck with a theme, more than just a strategy. Bear with me here. Let’s get down for some Capital Punishment.

Deck Overview

The basic idea of the deck is that Angel runs the court of law. He gives minions fair trial and then executes them. Let's get into each of the three forms.

Judge

Angel is the judge of this court. He controls the scenario through thwarting, and decides what cases to take through Looking For Trouble. I chose Looking For Trouble over Spoiling For A Fight because this deck struggles with thwarting, so the threat removal is quite valuable to us. Angel helps us to do more during our turn as well, with his card draw from Angel of Life. You will mostly want to thwart or set up when you are in Angel Form. It’s also nice to end the turn as him, as you can avoid the extra threat Archangel brings.

Jury

Warren Worthington III is the jury of the court. He does the setup for the execution. He gets great card draw from Worthington Industries, which is one of my favorite supports, as well as stocking the deck with the events we need. I mostly use it to recur Razor Dive, which is our main event for this deck. The healing is also nice. Try not to end the turn as Warren, if possible, as the deck’s threat control is bad. You can get a lot of healing done though, which we’ll need.

Executioner

Finally, we come to the executioner. Archangel. He is the main form of this deck. He is the one who does the dirty work. With a Razor Dive, you can take out most any minion. It doesn’t matter if they have a tough, if they have 9 health or less, they will be executed. You can either use the Angel of Death ability to help you kill the minion if it has more than 6 health, or you can use the damage on the villain or another minion. Now this is where he gets paid. Set up some air support, and you will be able to reliably get Suppressing Fire or Caught in the Crossfire into your hand. If you don’t need healing when you get the minion, than you can get the Caught in the Crossfire, which allows you to kill a minion without even attacking them. Otherwise, it you can get 2 health, which is pretty valuable in hero form for an aggression player. Again, it is very important to have Razor Dive. You can also use Metamorphosis pretty aggressively too. Flip down, grab some heals and a card, then flip back up and you have 5 damage to work with. You can also Bombs Away if you’re getting mobbed. I prefer to do this as the Judge though, as Angel always has a free ready on hand. Adaptive Plumage is also a great play as the executioner, as it’s an expensive event and a stun.

The Court

Now lets get to the things supporting Angel. Aggressive Conditioning and Combat Training boost his attack stat, which is good to have, as sometimes your events won’t be able to clear all the minions. Avengers Mansion and Heli-carrier are both pretty self-explanatory. Team Building Exercise is useful as it discounts your events and Cannonball. IPAC. I have a serious love-hate relationship with this jet thingy. I love the easy card draw, I mean who doesn’t love 2 free cards? But the problem is that the two cards aren’t free. You get the encounter card, which can make your life miserable if you have a lot of them. One time, I got attacked by the Villain three times because of encounter cards and got down to 1 health, which was not fun. You just have to be careful. How much do you need the extra cards? How will it impact your turn? Is it worth the extra encounter card? The risk factor is fun though. I’m only running 3 allies in this deck, as you want to use most of your resources for events. Professor X provides a confuse, Cannonball doesn’t ever die, and Tigra is basically free 2 damage for minions. X-Gene helps pay for the events. That pretty much wraps up the deck.

Final Thoughts

So, the main strategy of the deck is to summon minions and then kill them for health. I have a lot of fun using it, but be warned, this is not a solo deck. At least play two handed, but it works best in multiplayer. Hope y’all enjoy this deck. As always, please leave recommendations, critiques, and advice in the comments!
