Mulligan hard for Healing Factor (there are 3 copies to try to get it into play sooner than later). This will allow Wolverine to recuperate damage from using his claws even faster.
Plot Convenience can hold an extra copy of Healing Factor for another hero to play in multiplayer.
Triage and First Aid provide additional healing, either to Wolverine or his X-Men allies, especially Gambit who can thwart hopefully for 2 or 3 every turn.
The X-Jet consistently provides a strength resource for Stick-To-Itiveness.
Git Gud is another failsafe from defeat alongside "I Got Better".
