I am shamed to say that I am publishing an untested deck, but at the moment I do not have a lot of time to squeeze in test games and I wanted to join in on Squirrel Girl deck building for the most recent episode of the Winning Hand podcast. So while I'm confident in the concept of this deck, play it at your own risk.

So what are we doing here? Well, the obvious thing you do with Squirrel Girl, you recur her and allies similar to her using Rapid Response and Make the Call as much as possible to benefit from really good "enters play" abilities. The difference is what she is doing with the rest of her deck. While you build your tableau, you are building team support for a multiplayer game.

Lead from the Front can be played on whatever player is best set up to use their allies at that moment, Make the Call allows you to farm out their allies with good "enters play" abilities and recur them in addition to your own, Med Team provides healing where needed (and allows you more use of Dum Dum Dugan), Surveillance Team can pick off side schemes with troublesome threat totals, and The Pericles can be used around the board to provide survivability.

Other fun cards - Dum Dum Dugan should have plenty of SHIELD cards to buff up his attack/thwart and has Med Team to let him do it more often. Face the Past is a great fit for Maria so long as you get it out before Shadows/Pursued triggers. and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should have no trouble saving you from one problematic encounter card a turn...in exchange for potentially a random new one.

There is no big combo in this deck, just constant, nagging, attack, thwart and status cards. Mockingbird could be added for a little more status card frustration against villains susceptible tot it.

You had me at Great Lakes...I have been out of the loop, so to know Winning Hand is covering Squirrel Girl has me giddy. She is the reason why I finally beat Ultron for the first time, so many years ago. This deck sounds stupidly fun and really makes me think about how broken Maria Hill is. ETB effects are alway fun to trigger--which is why the X-men waves were so rocking awesome. I am definitely gonna test this out for you!

I am sad to report that this deck could not handle Magneto on Standard (true solo with a moderately skilled pilot, mind you). I still prefer Maria Hill on Justice. For me, I felt the lack of support type cards…but that could just be pilot error. Fun idea—and I am curious of other players’ experiences.
