This is the first deck I am ever publishing because I have benefited so much from here and I wanted to share. Inspired by the awesome VillainTheory's Beast of Burden deck, but with quite a few changes. This deck is incredibly powerful, definitely S-Tier because I can easily beat Expert Ronan, Magneto, Venom Goblin and more. I even tried these villains with IG and it became a closer fight (for the villain), I still won with ease.
I was surprised to find there were no popular SID decks for Captain Marvel! It works so well with her because she likes to spam Allies (due to having tons of resources and draws), and her Soldier trait is uncommon!
With this, I usually close my games by Round 5, sometimes even Round 4 :) Tons of draws means that usually we enter into the 2nd deck pass by Round 4! Please leave a like if you enjoyed this, would really appreciate it.
Turbo Draw:
- Captain Marvel already starts with a 7 Hand Size in AE and with Alpha Flight Station it goes up to 8.
- Clarity of Purpose synergizes perfectly with Captain Marvel's Rechannel, dealing damage which then allows for a heal, and paying the resource cost to get a card
- We will recur Nick Fury multiple times with Rapid Response and Make the Call. With Rapid Response Nick will still disappear in that same phase, but at least we get free 3 cards. Mixing it up with Make the Call because I found that running 3 copies of Rapid Response was too much. And MTC gives flexibility in the event we need to tutor something for Strength in Diversity
- In late game, we can often draw 12+ cards: 7 in AE + 1 from Alpha Flight Station + 3 from Nick Fury + 1 from Rechannel. Can possibly get more if we recur Nick Fury or play White Tiger
Strength in Diversity:
- Captain Marvel used to have some problems in trying to end the game because Energy Channel was only 10 Damage and in Solo we want to flip the villain and kill him in 1 turn, usually around 25 HP or so. Here comes Strength in Diversity: Captain Marvel herself already has 2 traits (soldier being quite unique). Combine this with Nick Fury who is often on the board, Beast, and Vivian we get 10 Traits! This can be further extended to 11 with The Triskelion
- In late game, this can easily close out the game. In mid game, this can also flexibly control the board by removing Threat from Side Schemes, or clearing Minions
Early Game:
- Staying alive can be done by chump blocking with Allies like Stinger, Maria Hill, Nick Fury. Other Allies should generally be kept to slowly build up the board for SID, especially Vivian
- Across the games, I find that this deck shines in consistency. The amount of draws means that I can quite easily set-up. Within 3-4 turns, usually all the pieces are set: Build Support to get Quincarrier, The Triskelion, Alpha Flight Station, Clarity of Purpose, 1 Energy Channel that is charged, 1 Rapid Response, usually with 2-3 Allies already
- Remember that Call for Backup can fetch Nick Fury or Beast. Beast works well because he can also give us 3 Resources by tutoring Energy Absorption
Really fun deck where you feel like you are drowning in resources, can reach a satisfying climax of dishing out tons of damage to the villain and have a really explosive turn of dealing 30+ damage! 10 from Energy Channel, 10 from Allies and Hero attack, 10 from Strength in Diversity and more from Photonic Blast :)
Edit: May add Black Panther to guarantee having SID to close the game. Black Panther can also be tutored using Call for Backup, assuming Nick is already out. May replace 1 copy of Make the Call.
I didn't include Hugin and Munin, because I found the other allies more useful, and the Aerial trait overlaps with Sunspot. My personal preference also doesn't like the randomness involved in finding a minion, and having enough boost icons. It can, however, work for scenarios that have many minions with 2 or more boost icons.
