Cable is the best hero to run Push Ahead with. Change my mind.

This deck build always chooses to put Technovirus Purge into play as Cable’s “Setup” player side scheme (PSS).

You want to mulligan hard for a card that can clear all 5 threat turn 1 — Mind Scan thwarts 3 & the final 2 threat come from Cable’s basic thwart (which is ideal), or you can spend an extra resource if you don’t have a Mind Scan to exhaust your hero with Push Ahead which thwarts for 6 turn 1 (2+2+2).

That makes 6 different cards in a 40 card deck that can clear Technovirus Purge turn 1. Obviously you’ll get the free ready for completing a side scheme, meaning another 3 attack/thwart. But the fun’s only just beginning.

With Cable’s stats now at 3/3/3, he’s got the strongest stat line in the game turn 1, making every Push Ahead (or Go All Out, if it’s time to kill the villain) hit for 9 (thwart or attack, respectively).

Now, he’s able to use Push Ahead in a 4-player game to clear Establish Perimeter all by himself (8 starting threat, 2 per player).

Once you get Symbiote Suit out and Cable’s stats go up to 4/4/4, in a 4-player game you can use one Push Ahead to clear any PSS except Specialized Training all by yourself.

With an R&D Facility out & Cable having taken a stat boost from one of Specialized Training’s rewards (+1THW&+1ATK, and +1THW/+1ATK/+1DEF), you can Go All Out for 15. It is very satisfying.

…Especially when you can just do it all again the next turn! With so many options for card draw & extra resources, it’s not unreasonable to expect to thwart for 5 & clear one of the villain’s side schemes, ready Cable, Go All Out, and then play Black Panther to pull that same Go All Out from your discard pile so you’re ready to play it again the next turn.

Black Panther is also an excellent target if you wanted to Push Ahead to clear Call for Backup all by yourself, because — whaddaya know! — he’ll have a guaranteed target in that Push Ahead you just played, plus you’ll have 3 other very happy teammates who didn’t have to do anything to earn the wonderful present you just gave them (their own Nick Fury, Professor X, or any of their favorite signature allies & friends).

The Power of Leadership is especially necessary in this deck, since it immediately hits all the resource qualifications for Push Ahead, Go All Out, and R&D facility (which is also a great target for Build Support!)

Since your DEF is 3 by turn 1 and your starting HP is 12, you’re able to defend yourself just fine — I’ll usually defend when I don’t have a Push Ahead in my hand early game or Go All Out in my hand late game. Askani’son is also incredibly useful here, especially when paired with the Graymalkin — I’ll often leave a SS/PSS at 3/4 threat going into the villain phase to use them in tandem to get a free scheme clear & ready!

Leadership Training is obviously another way to recur those Push Aheads & Go All Outs. Keep in mind that with so many PSS in this deck, once you get 3-5 in the victory display (combined with the large number of upgrades & supports you like having out), the deck is significantly thinner & you’re likely to draw the big hitters far more frequently the longer the game goes on.

Again I say that Cable is the best hero to run the Push Ahead/Go All Out package. Change my mind! <3
