Gameplay Video

In this video I take on Expert Ultron with the first draft of this deck. Then I made some improvements, and that's the deck you see here:

Panther Power

Once Black Panther is set up, he can take care of just about anything. This deck is focused on stalling until you get your setup with all 4 Black Panther Upgrades and become unstoppable.

Ignore The Villain's HP

When playing a setup hero, it's important to shift your mindset. You don't assess if you're winning based on villain hp. Defeating the villain is secondary. It will happen. Each time you get an upgrade or support onto the board without losing your health or the main scheme, you're winning.

Mulligan Priority

These cards will accelerate your card draw and control the threat on the main scheme. Once you have 1-2 copies of Beat Cop in play with Under Surveillance on the main scheme, it is safe to change to alter-ego to make use of The Golden City. I included Dazzler and Upside the Head to confuse the villain, making it even safer to utilize The Golden City.

Last Step of Wakanda Forever!

  • Vibranium Suit: When there isn't a specific need for the other cards to be in the last step of the sequence, I almost always choose to heal 2 damage and deal 2. Since this strategy is primarily stalling, the extra hp is incredibly valuable.
  • Panther Claws: This is my go-to for those end-of-game pushes to deal tons of damage.
  • Energy Daggers: If there are multiple minions with more than 1 hp out at a time, I will choose this one.
  • Tactical Genius: I seldom choose this as the last step unless there is a specific reason for me to.

Card Substitutions

This is an improved list of the deck I used in the video against Expert Ultron. I switched Helicarrier for Quincarrier, and Spider-Man for Ironheart. I think the deck could be stronger by switching Dazzler for Professor X, but I feel like he is in every list so I wanted to add some variety. Dazzler does have a couple of advantages though despite being more expensive. She can thwart 4 before blocking and isn't forced to confuse the villain.

Great deck! I always get nervous about Black Oanther, but he always pulls through! I love the use of Upside the Head

@andyr It's nerve racking for me too because he has to setup. But he's actually quite strong without his upgrades. 2 2 2 with retaliate and 11 hp is really solid.

I really enjoyed bringing this simple yet pretty satisfying deck up against Expert Loki!

Unfortunately, I don’t have the Psylocke pack so I used For Justice! instead of Upside the Head. However, I very rarely felt like I was using my basic attack, because I flipped down a lot and had to thwart.

I also really like the idea of having Core Box Recommendations!

Also, why do you have 2 copies of Under Siege?

Gosh dang it, I wish I could edit comments. I mean Under Surveillance.

@tunicv Great Question! There are two reasons I added 2 copies of it. The first reason is that Ultron is much harder when he makes it to his second main scheme, so I wanted to get Under Surveillance on it as soon as I could. And the second is that I want to make use of The Golden City but I want the main scheme to have a higher threshold before I flip down against any villain, not just Ultron. I think it is more valuable to have 2 copies and double your chances of seeing that card and have a small chance that a dead card comes into my hand later when I'm mostly going to be playing Wakanda Forever! at that point anyways. And I agree, you often won't need your basic attack for Upside the Head, but when it works it works well. It is sort of like thwarting 3-4 because it stops the villains scheme. Glad you tried it out!
