Backstory:
What if our beloved Spider-Ham from Earth 8311 was transported not into the "Spider-Verse" we all know and love, but instead sent into a nightmare world founded in horror movies? Just picture the following scenarios...
- The comedic dialogue between Spider-Ham and the Symbiote Suit arguing over the superiority of a hot dog over human flesh
- Giving Death the challenge of its life in the "Final Destination" franchise with Cartoon Physics and "I Don't Think So!" while the rest of his allies find themselves caught in the middle
- Going toe to toe with Jason from the "Friday the 13th Franchise" using Taunt, Petulant Pig and Bait and Switch to draw the villains attention then protecting his friends with Get Behind Me!
- Or, my personal favorite, fighting alongside Bruce Campbell in "Army of Darkness" using his trusty Huge Wooden Hammer and Organic Webbing to hold of the undead hordes.
Now Back to Reality...
Spider-Ham has been my go to for creative decks. With cards that will induce your mates to consistently roll their eyes, and a resource "storage tank" that often works far to well with an eye turned towards the masochism and self-flagellation, decks often feel like they lack the versatility you'd come to expect from Earth 8311 web slinger. That is... until now!!!
Regardless the scenario you and the other players are confronted with, Spider-Ham is there preventing the worst from happening through his mitigation of Encounter Cards, usage of himself and allies as meat shields to defend, doing a respectable amount of damage when necessary, and removing an insane amount of threat with the build up of Ham It Up. He's the Swiss Army knife of receiving punishment, then cleaning house when called upon to do so.
With up to 25 Health and 7 Recovery when fully set up, as well as 7 different allies to absorb blows, this Spider-Ham deck is built to never defend, soaking up all the toon counters that can be used to one shot the main scheme from 20 to zero in an instant. On top of that, thwarting for 15+ and doing 15+ damage on the same turn is entirely normal, with status effects and treachery mitigation coinciding.
My dream is to pair this with the "Look At Me, I'm Tom Cruise!" Deadpool deck by MegiDolaDyne. For now though, I'll stick to only using it in groups of 3-4 for a fun challenge and change of pace that adds a new layer to how a Protection deck might work.
