Since she first appeared in the Marvel Versus video games, Psylocke has always been one of my favorite X-characters. And now that she is out for Marvel Champions I have been have a ton of fun playing with her. She is definitely not the flashiest nor the most powerful, but I think her efficiency and her ability to adapt to nearly any situation on the board makes her really rewarding to play.
I have played about a dozen games with her at this point, and this is the deck I have settled on. The key is that she always has answers. There are five stun cards, ten confuse cards, and eleven ways to either draw cards or recur cards. I have found that all of these things combine to make Psylocke feel like a true Ninjutsu master.
Some cards that I want to highlight: Brawn – He is nothing flashy, but much like Psylocke, he can adapt to every board state. Need some chip damage? Or how about taking some heat off the threat level? Or maybe you need a big defender to take some minion damage. Brawn is your man.
Combat Training – Having Psylocke basic attack for 4 Piercing if she has two Katanas up is no joke. I try and mulligan for this card in every game I play.
Moira – Having ten confuse cards in the deck means that flipping to Betsy is really helpful. Confuse, flip to Betsy, draw six cards. Cancel villain activation. Then switch back to ninja mode to start your turn with seven cards. If you have Avengers Mansion and IPAC, that means you are seeing a staggering ten cards with two built in Psi Weapon resources ready to help pay for them.
Speaking of resources, I have seen a lot of Psylocke decks that do not run the three basic resource cards. I have actually found that by running all three of them, two Power of the Mind, plus her Psi Weapons, I can easily play the higher cost cards such as Fury, Drop Kick , Avengers Mansion, and Flurry of Blades without a problem. Again, the resource scheme takes advantage of Psylocke’s biggest strength, her adaptability and flexibility.
I hope you enjoy this deck as much as I have.
