I don't like this as a card in a vacuum, but in the aspect with a whole archetype devoted to defeating side schemes, this can play a role. Damaging the villain is always one of the weakest things to do in a game of Champions because it does nothing to answer encounter cards, so it's hard to want to spend resources completing this. On rate, you spend about 3-4 resources to play and complete this for 5 damage, which is pretty bad though it does scale better in multiplayer. I'd need lots of effects like Followed, Skilled Investigator, Turn the Tide, Chance Encounter, etc to feel like I want this, and even then I'd load up on the basic player side schemes first.

Edit 5/31/26: Having now played this card in multiplayer more, I actually love it. At 3-4 players, it is very efficient damage on the villain, even if that's more of a late game play. I love how it gives a player who drew thwarting cards in the final push turn a way to contribute to ending the game. We are also getting several new cards in Fear No Evil and Jessica Jones that support the player side scheme archetype, so this card will get even better when those come out.

@Stretch22 “ Damaging the villain is always one of the weakest things to do in a game of Champions” That’s literally how you win the game though. — RainKing42 · 2
Just because it's the weakest thing to do doesn't mean it's an unnecessary thing to do — Stretch22 · 2312
Increases its value the more players on the table. Hitting a villain for a ~22% of his life in multiplayer is greatly appreciated to close games asap — matchet · 356
Spot on edit. The card's main purpose is to give you a bank for extra thwart to convert to damage when your thwart engine overwhelms the schemes, as it does in many justice decks. This turns into an efficient way to crunch the final phase on cue and, as you said, let the guy who drew a hand of thwarts on the push turn contribute. — Turbowombat · 265

Why, when looking at this card's flavour text, you cants clearly say what is said by whom. I can expect both Wolverine and Deadpool to say either side of the confrontation. It's just really funny to me

Wolverine goes low because he's short, Deadpool goes low because he's a prick. Brilliant! — Michebugio · 50

This card shines in a 3 or 4 player game, you'll have more side schemes out so you'll want to play Even the Odds a few times which whittles this down, making this card (almost) free damage. In single player I can see this not being played much though.
